Let's Walk the Talk! (1216 hits)

In spite of the verdict, I am not sorry that I united with students at Penn State and wore my hoodie as we engaged in a peaceful protest and marched in silence on, around and through the campus for the cause of bringing justice for Trayvon Martin and his family. I am happy that such a movement as well as others around the country sparked the authorities in Florida to investigate the issue, make an arrest and finally allow the voices of Trayvon's parents: Sabrina Fulton and Tracy Martin, Trayvon's stepmother Alicia Stanley (who also is grieving after playing such an important role in Trayvon's life) as well as his friend Rachel Jeantel (although widely criticized by naysayers) to be heard on Trayvon's behalf. My heart and prayers goes out to Trayvon's parents, step-mother, Trayvon's family and friends who loved and supported him and this cause for justice. I encourage You to as I always say, ' Don't Talk About it Be About It! It is one thing to talk about change. However, change starts with Us. For it is up to Us to BE the change in the difference that we desire to bring to fruition. Read the statement issued by Reverend Al Sharpton via Facebook:

We intend to ask the Department of Justice to move forward as they did in the Rodney King case and we will closely monitor the civil case against Mr. Zimmerman. I will convene an emergency call with preachers tonight to discuss next steps and I intend to head to Florida in the next few days."

They deeply want a sense of justice. They deeply don't want their son's death to be in vain. ... [T]hey are still in disbelief about his death, and now they're in disbelief about this verdict. It's just one of the things they have to deal with -- they're in church this morning, praying and turning to God, a higher authority, to make sense of it all. ... When prosecutor John Guy said if the roles were reversed, and Trayvon Martin would have followed and profiled and shot George [Zimmerman] in the heart, what would the verdict have been? And that's the question that everybody is asking, that's why the whole world was watching this case."

AL, ALSO SAID AS WE WHO WORK FOR CIVIL AND LEGAL EQUALITY THAT WE MORE EXPECTED A CONTINUATION OF THIS HUNDREDS OF YEARS OLD HISTORICAL PATTERRENOF BEHAVIOR AND FROM THE BEGINNING MORE OR LESS EXPETED THIS NOT GUILTY AND IS WHY WE HAVE ALWAYS MOVED BEYOND THIS TRAIL AND ONTO CIVIL RIGHTS VIOLATIONS AS OUR GOAL....
