Alcorn to host Brave Hearts 5K Run, Walk and Health Fair on Saturday (2862 hits)


WHAT: Alcorn State University is hosting its first ever Brave Hearts 5K Run/Walk/ 1 Mile Fun Run and Health Fair to bring attention to obesity as a disease and its disproportionate affect on Mississippians. The event also serves as a fundraiser for the Alcorn Men's and Women's Track & Field programs.

WHEN: Saturday August 31, 2013 - 7:00 a.m.

WHO: Alcorn State University

WHERE: Alcorn State University’s Lorman campus, front entrance of Dr. Clinton Bristow Jr. Dining Facility

Registration will begin at 7:00 a.m. at the front entrance of Dr. Clinton Bristow Jr. Dining Facility followed by the opening ceremony. The race will take off at 8:00 a.m.

Entry fees for the event are: $20 for pre-race registrants, $25 for race-day registrants, $5 for students, and $10 for one-mile runners. All pre-registrants will receive one free T-shirt, and all runners/walkers will receive one entry voucher to the Alcorn State vs. Edward Waters football game that will take place Saturday, August 31, at 4:00 p.m.
