
Take a past view account and remember one of the great names in major league Black baseball players.
Name: Jackie Robinson
January 31, 1919-October 24, 1972
Jackie Robinson was born in Cario, Georgia. His parents were sharecroppers, but mainly he was raised by his mother. Jackie loved baseball as a child and showed a real talent for the game. Over the years he gain much recognition for his dedication to the game, but not without facing color barriers, and trials of prejudices along the way. His achievements included in 1947 National League Most Valuable Player and Rookie of the Year. He was also inducted in the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1962. Jackie is known for breaking the color barrier in baseball for being one of the firsts to join a major league team of the Brooklyn Dodgers.
Two wonderful films has portrayals of Jackie Robinson's one made in 1950 and titled The Jackie Robinson Story and one made in 2013 titled '42' after the number of his jersey. Jackie led an incredible life.
