Over 100 people were discovered living in a stash house in Houston, Texas on March 19, 2014. There were counted as 94 men and at least 15 women. The reports said they were living illegally in the house and they were part of a human smuggling operation. Many had been living in the house with unsanitary conditions and were found to be sitting on top of each other, sleeping on floors and with limited movable space. The stashed people's house was discovered when authorities were searching for a woman and two children who had been reported missing by her family. When the authorities followed a lead at the house and entered the home, they found much more than the woman; but over a hundred people crowded in the small rooms. Reports stated that 5 men were arrested for smuggling charges. Police emptied the house and some of the occupants needed minor medical attention. The crowd of people were detained and transported by ICE, fed and issued clothing where later they may end up deported. The occupants were said to be from Honduras, Guatemala, New Mexico and El Salvador. The illegal company of people were seeking a better life by smuggling their way to the United States by way of Houston as a underground human trade transports them to either relatives or placement with others to find an escapes.
