MOSCOW, May 7 (RIA Novosti) – OSCE Chairman-in-Office Didier Burkhalter has delivered to Moscow the organization’s proposals on how to de-escalate the ongoing crisis in Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Wednesday.
“I know that you have your own ideas and proposals of how to exit the crisis. We will try and analyze the situation and look for a way to exit the crisis,” Putin said while convening talks in the Kremlin with Burkhalter, who is also the president of Switzerland.
Putin said that Moscow’s position on the issue is well-known and noted there was no need to repeat it. The Russian leader also said he had already discussed “the grave and tragic events in Ukraine” with the head of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.
The Kremlin earlier said the meeting of the Russian and Swiss presidents was expected to focus on the situation in Ukraine, where the regime has launched a military operation against the population of the country’s southern and southeastern territories.
The number of civilian casualties in Ukraine has been climbing steadily since Friday as the Kiev regime continues to tighten its grip on federalist strongholds.
Last week, Ukraine saw the bloodiest violence since the February overthrow of President Viktor Yanukovych, with dozens killed in clashes across the country and scores of anti-coup activists burned alive inside a building in the city of Odessa.
