What about Morgan Freeman; do we need Black History? There is a movement in the United States to take color out of the history books. In the future, there will be no designation that black people did anything toward the making of this country. They also want to leave out of the books anything that makes the U S. look bad so the murdering of the indigenous people and the selling of human beings would also be left out. What kind of history is that when the while picture is distorted and lie after lie is perpetuated through omission? It is bad enough that for the most part, African Americans only get about a page in Early American History and the Native People get only a paragraph about the five 'civilized' tribes. Nothing about the millions of other Natives who met the boat.

Public education (K-12) wants books without color and containing only information to make America look good. Public education is suffering because we have allowed the watchdog of education to go to sleep.We need to make our government accountable for this atrocity. We need to wake up.

I am lost. I don't quite know where we got off of the point I was trying to make.
Steve, the writers of our textbooks must follow a certain format before they can get published. The history books need to reflect the "greatness of America". Is the book you are reading a text book? How much of what you learned in that book was in you textbooks in school? Did your textbook tell you that black explorers accompanied the European explorers to the new world? did you textbook tell you that Mathew Henson arrived at the North poll before Perry?
