The 1st Annual BBC Music Awards aired on December 11, 2014 had the Happy Pharrell taking on the most awards. Pharrell picked up the music awards for his song Happy in the category of Best International Artist and with his Happy song being Song of the Year Award. The biggest winner didn't attend, but via satellite thanked the producers and officials for his winnings. Along with others musical guest hosts were Fearne Cohen and Chris Evans. Performers graced the stages with British Act of the Year Ed Sheenan, with the group One Direction singing Steal my Girl and also singer Gregory Potter. Pharrell's awards were received by singer Tom Jones.
