The civil rights struggle for black folk in America largely engulfed grass roots black families. If a black youth was fortunate to go to college they generally studied a field designed by the white establishment to make them fools and clowns for his society. Thus, blacks in large numbers choose careers in sports; the pay was good if they were good enough and it was the way of the crowd. Many other blacks choose careers in the social sciences to serve the misfortunate.
So the black struggle had to make it without the resource of the skilled craftsmen. Black people choose the ministry field because masses of black people are suckers for teachings of glory in the by and by while they catch hell in the here and now. Black scientist in the fields of chemistry, biology, engineering and medicine largely got their degrees and forgot all about the black struggle. Many married white spouses and changed their identity.
Thus black struggle had to limp along without weaponry as advanced as their scientists. It made for a lot of ignorant zealots to overshadow religion in Islam, Christianity and Jewish.
Not so today, after graduating in electrical engineering then spending 30 years practicing as a power and controls engineer, it became clear to me by real purpose on earth which was to serve black culture.
