Another of Kwanzaa principles is Ujamma. Families need principles to function as a whole unit. Each family member has to cooperate to bond and work together in peace as it is assured with cooperation to build unity.

Families may suggest better ways to cooperation to make a peaceful setting at home, and in the situations of life. The middle red candle on the right of the black candle is lighted.
