Roosters are one of Allah's most intelligent creatures, and also one of Prophet Muhammad's (peace be upon him) most beloved animals. Prophet Muhammad once said, “If you hear the crowing of the rooster, then ask Allah of His Bounty, for it has seen an angel. And if you hear the braying of a donkey, then seek refuge with Allah from the Shaytaan, for it has seen a devil.”
Allah loves being asked and though we are entirely dependent on him we tend to forget in the busy routine of living to make supplication. Thus, the rooster’s crow can function as a reminder for us to specially ask Allah for His continued favours, and the braying of donkeys and barking of dogs can be our alarm clocks to wake us up to seeking Allah’s protection.

Prophet Muhammad also loved dogs and taught mercy to ALL of God's creation. There are many reports of his love for cats resulting in their historical acceptance among Muslims. The cat is such a clean animal that according to authentic narrations one may make ablution for prayer with the same water that a cat drank from.

I thought they'd be okay loose in the yard until I had time to get a a coop but something got Moses last night. Jesus is here and I can hear Mohammed way across the field at the neighbor's. So I need to go retrieve him and get the coop done before nightfall. Live and learn.

So all three roosters are alive, Moses was not taken last night. There was also a case of mistaken identity. It was Moses that was here all day, Jesus was the one across the field, and Mohammed was at the neighbors down the hill. Probably it was Jesus that was attacked last night but he was definitly attacked around midmorning and is now missing all his tail feathers.

My mother had ceramic roosters in her kitchen when I was growing up. It turns out that having a rooster in the kitchen has been a sign of good luck, health and prosperity for centuries. I also found references to roosters and good fortune in Greek, Chinese, Japanese and Christian symbolism, and having a rooster in the kitchen has been a French tradition for years and years.

Tabiry is a name that means "precious"...it is a unis*x name derived from the name Tahir which in both Hebrew and Arabic mean "pure". I had a college classmate who's name was Tahiry, just with the letter "b" in the name swapped for "h".
Steve, if you do decide to get more than one hen you may want to consider giving them the names Gabriel and Micheal, as they are the names of two of Allah's angels.

I don't know of many hen folktales besides "The Little Red Hen", I remember reading that book to the class when I was teaching kindergarten. The students seemed to love that book more than they loved the Dr. Seuss series. We've all heard the expression "mother hen" and those of us who've had the experience of observing mother hens with their chicks know why the term was coined. They are diligent in seeing to the needs of their newborns.
Furthermore, they are excellent teachers to their offspring. They give their little ones everything they need to know to survive. Then, quite suddenly, the mother hen completely disassociates with the chicks. This back-turning to their young is essential for the survival of these chicks. It might be considered "tough love" but the chick has no choice but to sink or swim.

This is true. There is an Asante proverb which reads: "The hen knows well when it is dawn, but leaves it to the cock to announce." The Asante kingdom was the most powerful of numerous states that emerged at the beginning of the 15th century within the present-day country of Ghana.
This proverb may reference the decision-making power of the chief, represented by the rooster, as opposed to the wisdom of the elders, represented by the hen, and the role the the official spokesman, or linguist, of an Asante chief plays in mediating between the two.

There is really no limit to the amount of egg whites you consume, as egg whites have more protein than egg yolks. Studies have shown that egg whites are beneficial for weight loss and decreasing belly fat. As for egg yolks, common recommendations include a maximum of 2-6 yolks per week. Ideally, you should get your eggs fresh from a chicken or local farm. The more fresher the egg, the greater it's natural vitamins.
Hard boiled eggs are the best type of eggs to eat, however if you prefer your eggs scrambled, cooked as an omelette, or sunny-side up as my 4 and 6 year olds love, it is primarily the type of oil that you use that makes fried eggs less healthy than hard boiled and poached eggs. Therefore I recommend oiling the skillet with a few teaspoons of olive oil (which is good for us), bring to medium heat, and drop the egg in. PAM cooking spray also works best.

That's perfect Sister Juanita. This hen will produce 4-5 eggs a week I think, which is about what I use. I like poached eggs best but usually fry them in olive oil as you say, and add a slice of cheese on top. How do you poach them?

I put in a few tablespoons of water (to a depth of about 5 cm) and bring to medium heat until it is just simmering. Then I crack the egg, drop it into the hot water, reduce the heat down to low so the water is gently bubbling and cover the pan with a clear lid for 3-4 minutes or until the membrane over the yolk turns just slightly white.
I enjoy eating poached eggs with smoked salmon and sliced avocado on pita bread (I absolutely LOVE pita bread). I take a slice of pita bread (or a slice of whole wheat bread, depending on what I have on hand in the refrigerator at the time), and place on a plate, add a few slices of avocado, then drape a piece of smoked salmon on top. Using a long, narrow spoon, I carefully lift the poached egg from the water and place it on top of the salmon, then season with a dash of sea salt and ground black pepper.
