We should teach our children at an early age a few facts about how the human eye works. Visual perception begins as soon as the eye focuses, and it’s the lens that allows our eyes to focus. Children sometime don’t realize what rolling their eyes mean or that it may be harmful to them. I can remember kids having contests of staring into each other’s eyes, which can strain the eye muscles. Our vision degrades with age, affecting those over the age of 50. Is it possible to overcome and/or delay some of the disabilities imposed by the aging eye? A little trick I use is when I wake up in the morning to wash my face, I look into the mirror and remind myself to stay focused.
