In a chilling update on the shooting, it seems that the gunman, whose name we will not print so as not to give him the fame he likely sought, was asking people questions to determine their religion before shooting them. “’Are you a Christian?’ He would ask them, ‘and if you are a Christian, stand up,’” Stacy Boylan, father of victim Anastasia Boylan said his daughter told him before she went into surgery. “And when they would stand up, he said, ‘Good, because you’re a Christian, you’re going to see God in just about one second.” “And then she shot and killed them,” her father said she told him. http://hellobeautiful.com/2015/10/02/orego... Christians are under attack everywhere! The Church has to watch and pray Always!

I noticed that. But not a Conservative Christian. Still, he must have found Obama's speech about God using Roof to kill Christians interesting.

What new gun law would prevent someone like Mercer getting a gun?

Enforcement of the laws already on the books would do just fine.

Apparently the guy had a high functioning form of Autism called Aspergers Syndrome which makes people socially awkward that live with this form of Autism. This would explain why he had no friends outside of social media. These people fixate on something ( in his case... guns, religion) and take it to extremes that others wouldn't. On top of this, he was from a broken home and being raised by a single mother. I hear she took him to the gun range which was one of his favorite past times and bought guns for him. Wow.

How can this be remedied? It has to start somewhere--with gun control, and changes in a person's thinking and their hearts... LOVE.

Care must be taken with medications, as side effects may be more common and harder to evaluate in individuals with AS, and tests of drugs' effectiveness against comorbid conditions routinely exclude individuals from the autism spectrum.[80] Abnormalities in metabolism, cardiac conduction times, and an increased risk of type 2 diabetes have been raised as concerns with these medications,[85][86] along with serious long-term neurological side effects.[82] SSRIs can lead to manifestations of behavioral activation such as increased impulsivity, aggression, and sleep disturbance.[47] Weight gain and fatigue are commonly reported side effects of risperidone, which may also lead to increased risk for extrapyramidal symptoms such as restlessness and dystonia[47] and increased serum prolactin levels.[87] Sedation and weight gain are more common with olanzapine,[86] which has also been linked with diabetes.[85] Sedative side-effects in school-age children[88] have ramifications for classroom learning. Individuals with AS may be unable to identify and communicate their internal moods and emotions or to tolerate side effects that for most people would not be problematic.[89]

Steve, These people with AS tend to run in families so that would probably explain why the mom being a nurse didn't know any better; either she has AS or she babied the dude like parents tend to do when there is a child with a disability. I worked with a nurse who had AS and she was really odd and had a dgt with AS.
