Have you ever pondered joining the military?
What inspired you to pursue life as a soldier?
For me, the whole idea of unity made it appealing.
The year was 2003. I was thirsty to march while
singing those cadences. My father a National Guard
Soldier planted good seeds in the family due to
his military experience.
Physical labor is up my alley, along with structure
and team work. So I started researching which division
would fit me best. After speaking to my
father, he advised I enlist in the Air force, if at all.
The friends I new who joined talked to me and it
was from those discussions I realized I was not
meant to enlist.
However, I do carry on the traditions instilled in me
from my father. I do stand tall like a Soldier. And I
do salute those who exemplify honorable duties.
Our family use to enjoy shrimp dinners at the Base
each Christmas with other military families. Santa
Claus would pass out mini candy canes and joy
filled the air.
As the daughter of a Veteran, I am proud to uplift
all Veterans on this 2015 Veterans Day!
