Shemar Moore Leads Campaign with Children's Miracle Network Hospitals to Help 15-year-old Co-star, Nadja Alaya
Moore calls on fans to donate to local Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, helping his co-star, Nadja Alaya, and other kids in need to get the care they deserve.
ATLANTA (November 3, 2016) - Actor Shemar Moore's latest movie, The Bounce Back, tells the story of a father whose life is turned upside down when he falls for a woman. Since filming the movie, "bounce back" has taken on new meaning for the movie's cast. Recently, his 15-year-old co-star, Nadja Alaya, was diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Moore is leading a campaign to help kids like Alaya by raising funds for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.
"Nadja is going to 'bounce back' from this and go on to live a full life," said Moore, who starred in CBS' Criminal Minds. "We want to ensure kids like Nadja receive the best care possible, and that's why we're supporting Children's Miracle Network Hospitals."
Donations can be made at BounceBackForKids.org and will go to the Children's Miracle Network Hospital of donors' choice. There are 170 children's hospitals across North America supported by the charity, including Children's Hospital Los Angeles, where Alaya is being treated.
"I surround myself with people that I know are going to make me feel good throughout this process, and Shemar is one of those people," said Alaya, who also is a dancer and model. The Bounce Back is Alaya's first film.
Moore will be sharing additional "bounce back" stories on his social channels and encouraging others to do the same by using the hashtag #BounceBack.
The Bounce Back opens nationwide on December 9 and will be shown in 650 theaters across the U.S.
