I was shocked at that statement: I've condemned neo-Nazis. I've condemned many different groups. But not all of those people were neo-Nazis, believe me. Not all of those people were white supremacists, by any stretch. Those people were also there because they wanted to protest the taking down of a statue, Robert E. Lee. ... So this week it's Robert E. Lee. I noticed that Stonewall Jackson's coming down. I wonder, is it George Washington next week? And is it Thomas Jefferson the week after?
I first thing I thought of was this: Did Washington or Jefferson get Americans killed to maintain slavery although both men owned slaves? LEE DID!

These monuments should stay up. You can conflate all the names you want, neo-nazi, white supremacist, white nationalist, alt-right... Doesn't matter, there are many who don't own any of those names but neither are we al-Qaida, ISIS, or Stalinists. Let the monuments remain, they are history and works of art.

And I gave you a very specific answer Ron. What any of us would or would not have supported 150 years ago is a nonsensical question. We are making our own history NOW and mobs tearing down inanimate objects is part of it.

I asked you specifically about Robert E Lee, what you gave me was some vague idea. So you wasn't specific about your answer at all about Robert E Lee.?
What the Nazis are doing and the alt right is Doing, is bringing up old hate, that lying about racial superiority from the pass, about 150 years ago which Robert E Lee personified and should be eradicate from this nations history' for ever. Just for the fact that this ugliness of racial bias is raising his ugly head up now, is because thinking like this.

Robert E. Lee is dead. My comment was about monuments. Monuments are inanimate objects. Monuments can't hurt living beings.

Yes Steve, Robert E. Lee is dead but his legacy of hate, Abhorrence, disgust, racial superiority still lives. the main topic was over the violence over just one monument and that is the monument of Robert E Lee.
The question is: "Are you in support of that part of history that Robert E Lee stood for?"

What do you mean Ron, support of history? That history was not made by any of us living today. I support the study of that part of history and I wonder how it is you have such an absolute knowlwdge of it?
