The Acts of Peter…is mainly notable for its description of a miracle contest between Saint Peter and Simon Magus. Peter preaches that Simon is performing magic in order to convert followers through deception. In Peter's outrage, he challenges Simon to a flying contest around the Roman Vatican in order to prove whose works are from a divine source and whose are merely trickery, but Peter’s prayers made Simon crash to the ground, proving that Simon’s powers are not as great as his own. Superman’s creator, Jerry Siegel, acknowledges in an unpublished memoir that he was strongly influenced by anti-Semitism
