Devlin Barrett, national security reporter for the Washington Post, talks with Rachel Maddow about the secret nature of the phone intercepts that serve as part of the basis of the evidence against disgraced Trump NSA Michael Flynn, and why that complicates the prosecutors' response to the judge's order to make them public.

General Flynn has not been disgraced but the FBI has.

Let us talk about the message for a moment Steve.

It was just Eight days before President Trump was inaugurated, when David at the Washington Post broke the news there had been secret communications during the presidential transition period Between incoming Trump national security adviser Mike Flynn and the Russian Ambassador.

He wrote at the time, Quote: "What did Flynn say and did it undercut the U.S. Sanctions?" Despite multiple denials from multiple people in the Trump Administration that Flynn discussed sanctions on his call with the Russian government, the Washington Post would report that Flynn did have discussion on sanctions with the Russian government on that call.

Now Steve, I know that you have a thing with this messenger but pay attention to the message because this in part is what the Trump administration is stonewalling oven.

I wonder WHY?

All the evidence was in front of Mueller and he didn't indict the President. CASE CLOSED.
