Gods Laws-Animals fit for Consumption and of Offerings (376 hits)

Examine the meat of animals to make sure it is permitted for consumption.

Lev 11:2-8 2 Speake unto the children of Israel, saying, These are the beasts which ye shal eat among all the beasts that are on the earth: 3 Whatsoever parteth the hoofe, and is clouen footed, & cheweth cud among the beasts, that shall ye eate. 4 Neuerthelesse, these shall ye not eate, of them that chewe the cud, or of them that diuide the hoofe: as the camel, because he cheweth the cud, but diuideth not the hoofe, he is vncleane unto you. 5 And the conie, because he cheweth the cud, but diuideth not the hoofe, he is vncleane unto you. 6 And the hare, because he cheweth the cud, but diuideth not the hoofe, he is vncleane unto you. 7 And the swine, though he diuide the hoofe, and be clouen footed, yet he cheweth not the cud: he is vncleane to you. 8 Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcase shall ye not touch: they are vncleane to you. KJV 1611

Examine fish to make sure they are permitted for consumption.

Lev 11:9-12 9 These shal ye eat, of all that are in the waters: whatsoeuer hath finnes and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the riuers, them shall ye eate. 10 And all that have not finnes nor scales in the seas, and in the riuers, of all that moue in the waters, and of any liuing thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you: 11 They shall be even an abomination unto you: ye shall not eat of their flesh, but you shall have their carcases in abomination. 12 Whatsoeuer hath no finnes nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination unto you. KJV 1611

Examine locusts to make sure they are permitted for consumption.

Lev 11:20-23 20 All foules that creepe, going upon all foure, shall be an abomination unto you. 21 Yet these may ye eat, of every flying creeping thing that goeth upon all foure, which have legges above their feet, to leape withall upon the earth. 22 Euen these of them ye may eate: the Locust, after his kinde, and the Bald-locust after his kinde, and the Beetle after his kinde, and the Grassehopper after his kinde. 23 But al other flying creeping things which have foure feet, shall be an abomination unto you. KJV 1611

The blood of slaughtered clean animals must be poured on the ground and covered with earth.

Lev 17:10-16 10 And whatsoeuer man there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that soiourne among you, that eateth any maner of blood, I will even set my face against that soul that eateth blood, and will cut him off from among his people. 11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the Altar, to make an atonement for your soules: for it is the blood, that maketh an atonement for the soul. 12 Therefore I said unto the children of Israel, No soul of you shall eat blood, neither shall any stranger that soiourneth among you, eat blood. 13 And whatsoeuer man there be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that soiourne among you, which hunteth and catcheth any beast or foule that may be eaten, he shall even powre out the blood thereof, and couer it with dust. 14 For it is the life of all flesh, the blood of it is for the life thereof: therefore I said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall not eat the blood of no maner of flesh: for the life of all flesh is the blood thereof: whosoeuer eateth it, shall be cut off. 15 And every soul that eateth that which died of it selfe, or that which was torne with beasts, whether it bee one of your own countrey, or a stranger, he shall both wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be vncleane vntill the Euen: then shall he be cleane. 16 But if he wash them not, nor bathe his flesh, then he shal bare his iniquity. KJV 1611

Anything devoted to GOD becomes Most Holy to GOD and becomes the property of the sanctuary of GOD and the priests.

Lev 27:28-29 28 Notwithstanding, no deuoted thing that a man shall deuote vnto the Lord, of all that he hath, both of man and beast, and of the field of his possession, shall be sold or redeemed: euery deuoted thing is most holy vnto the Lord. 29 None deuoted, which shalbe deuoted of men, shall be redeemed: but shall surely be put to death. KJV 1611

To be fit for consumption clean animals must be slaughtered. Do not eat what dies of itself or is killed by wild beasts.

Deut 12:21 If the place which the Lord thy GOD hath chosen to put his Name there, be too farre from thee, then thou shalt kill of thy herd and of thy flocke, which the Lord hath given thee, as I have commaunded thee, and thou shalt eate in thy gates, whatsoeuer thy soul lusteth after. KJV 1611

Examine fowl to make sure they are permitted for consumption.

Deut 14:11-19 11 Of all cleane birds ye shall eate. 12 But these are they of which ye shall not eat: the Eagle, and the ossifrage, and the ospray, 13 And the glede, and the kite, and the vulture after his kinde, 14 And every rauen after his kinde, 15 And the owle, & the night hawke, and the cuckow, and the hawke after his kinde, 16 The little owle, and the great owle, and the swanne, 17 And the pellicane, and the Geer-eagle, and the cormorant, 18 And the Storke, and the Heron after her kind, and the lapwing, and the batte. 19 And every creeping thing that flyeth, is vncleane unto you: they shall not be eaten. KJV 1611

The priests must receive their share of all clean animals that are slaughtered.

Deut 18:3 And this shall be the Priests due from the people, from them that offer a sacrifice, whether it bee oxe or sheepe: and they shall giue unto the Priest the shoulder, and the two cheekes, and the maw. KJV 1611

The priests must receive the first fleece from the shearing of sheep.

Deut 18:4 The first fruit also of thy corne, of thy wine, and of thy oil, and the first of the fleece of thy sheepe, shalt thou giue him. KJV 1611

Set the mother bird free when taking the nest or the young.

Deut 22:6-7 6 If a birds nest chance to be before thee in the way in any tree, or on the ground, whether they be yong ones, or egges, and the damme sitting upon the yong, or upon the egges, thou shalt not take the damme with the yong. 7 But thou shalt in any wise let the damme go, and take the yong to thee, that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days. KJV 1611
