The Blasphemy of Replacement Theology
Both the Old and New Testaments speak of a plot to not only hide Israel, but to replace Israel with Gentiles. There are actually two major doctrines held by many people in the Church, and others that espouse portions of these beliefs without knowing their origin:
British-Israelism: British Israelism (also called Anglo-Israelism) is a religious movement that claims that people of Western European and Northern European descent are the direct lineal descendants of the Ten Lost Tribes of the ancient Israelites, particularly in Great Britain.
Replacement Theology: Supersessionism, also called Replacement Theology or Fulfillment Theology, is a Christian theological view on the current status of the church in relation to the Jewish people and Judaism. It holds that the Christian Church has succeeded the Israelites as the definitive people of God or that the New Covenant has replaced or superseded the Mosaic covenant.
Although neither of the above have any Biblical backing, there are people that fully believe them to be true. Those that believe British-Israelism have no need to check into the identity of true Israel because they believe them to be European. Those that believe in Replacement Theology have no reason to check into the identity of true Israel because they believe the Church has taken their place. They also believe that God cast away Israel, which is just plain false teaching:
“Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The LORD of hosts is his name: If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the LORD, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever.” – Jeremiah 31:35-36
We know that none of those ordinances have ceased and therefore Israel is still a nation as far as God is concerned. These two verses completely dismantle all Replacement Theology.
“I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew. Wot ye not what the scripture saith of Elias? how he maketh intercession to God against Israel, saying” – Romans 11:1-2
Misinterpreting and Misapplying Scripture
Both Paul and Jeremiah confirm that Israel has not and will never be replaced by God. Not only is Replacement Theology false, but it calls scripture a lie, which is blasphemy. Believers in this false doctrine often hang their entire belief on the following:
“There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.” – Galatians 3:28
They falsely interpret this to mean Israel was done away with. What they ignore is that this only applies to those that accept Christ. It does not apply to those that don’t. They also don’t account for the figurative speech referring to the “body” (all believers as a collective), which is not literal. Further proof of the relevance of Israel is found in the book of Revelation. Christ himself points out that it was considered blasphemy to claim to be a Jew if you really aren’t.
“Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.” – Revelation 3:9
If Israel was done away with, there would be no need for Christ to even care if people were pretending to be Jews or not. It would be completely irrelevant to prophecy, but its not. He is clear that he will make fake Jews worship before real Jews.
