Donald Trump and The Big Lie (1079 hits)

Donald Trump and The Big Lie

How Donald Trump Uses The Adolph Hitler Playbook To Divide America

It frightens me how well Donald Trump uses the technique of the Big Lie to sow division and discord among us. Because I’m old enough to remember well who invented the Big Lie and how he used it to kill millions and to tear a continent apart.

Adolph Hitler was the chief theorist of the Big Lie. Listen to him as he explains how it works;

“… in the big lie there is always a certain force of credibility; because the broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods”…

People noticed what he was doing, of course. During WWII an analyst wrote this about his technique, “His primary rules were;

Never allow the public to cool off
Never admit a fault or wrong
Never concede that there may be some good in your enemy
Never leave room for alternatives
Never accept blame

at a time and blame him for everything that goes wrong

The writers concluded; people will believe a Big Lie sooner than a little one, and if you repeat it frequently enough people will sooner or later believe it.”
Sound familiar?

OK, so what? Just because there are similarities of approach, it doesn’t mean Trump is actually working from the Hitler playbook. Before we could say that we would need some proof, some direct connection, and lucky for us, there is one. An internet search of the public record reveals evidence that Donald Trump was aware of Hitler’s techniques as far back as 1990. And before you start calling this fake news, these are records of old stories written long before Trump ran for president, back when he was saying, “The press liked me.” Back then, his then-wife Ivana reported that Trump kept Hitler’s speeches in a cabinet by his bedside. And about the same time, Trump told a reporter he had a copy of Mein Kampf (but of course he didn’t admit to inhaling).

I admit to being an old cynic when watching politicians. As a lifelong Chicago Democrat, it’s hard to ignore the performance aspects of the profession. But watching Donald Trump damage and divide our country using the techniques of Adolf Hitler, easily the most evil public liar of the twentieth century, one thing is crystal clear. To support Trump for any reason is to have aligned yourself with a moral monster. He is a hater with no conscience, and an infinite capacity to inflict pain on America. Regardless of your desires or concerns, it is now time to renounce Donald Trump and find someone else who represents your beliefs to carry on the struggle. History is not on your side nor will America be when this is over. It’s time to make up your mind about how you will be remembered.

Update! I wrote this in 2018. In 2020 Trump tried the next move in the Hitler playbook when he conned his followers into storming the halls of congress. I wrote about that as a disagreement in a tough bar. You can read about it here: https://medium.com/stories-ive-been-meanin...

Too bad you don't listen to yourselves. There are no more shameless liars than the subscribers of the "Democrat" Party. Trying to tell us there is 90% support for federalized background checks. Right.

TRUMP won the 2021 Presidental Election, That is The Big LIE you believe in Steve.

I woke up this morning to the news To support his attempts to overturn the 2020 United States presidential election, President Donald Trump and his allies repeatedly and falsely claimed there had been massive election fraud and that Trump had really won the election. U.S. Senators Josh Hawley and Ted Cruz subsequently contested the election results in the Senate. Their effort was characterized as "the big lie" by President-elect Joe Biden. "I think the American public has a real good, clear look at who they are", Biden said two days after the Capitol was attacked. "They're part of the big lie, the big lie." Republican senators Mitt Romney and Pat Toomey, scholars of fascism Timothy Snyder and Ruth Ben-Ghiat, Russian affairs expert Fiona Hill, and others have also used the term big lie to refer to Donald Trump's false claims about massive election fraud.

Dominion Voting Systems, who provided the voting machines in the 2020 election, is seeking $1.3 billion in damages from Trump's lawyer Rudy Giuliani. In the lawsuit, they allege that "he and his allies manufactured and disseminated the 'Big Lie', which foreseeably went viral and deceived millions of people into believing that Dominion had stolen their votes and fixed the election."

In January and February 2021, The New York Times published a thorough investigation into how Trump promoted "the big lie" for political purposes to subvert the 2020 election, and how that lie encouraged a violent storming of the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.

During the second impeachment trial of Donald Trump, the house managers Jamie Raskin, Joe Neguse, Joaquin Castro, Stacey Plaskett and Madeleine Dean all used the phrase "the big lie" repeatedly to refer to the notion that the election was stolen, with a total of 16 mentions in the initial presentation alone. "The Big Lie", leading up to and including the election period, formed the first section of the "provocation" part of the argument.

We don't use the term, "the big lie." We say, "stop the steal."

When you use that term, Steve, "Stop The Steal" that is the LIE right there. Steve, this of this, is all about taken away The Black people's right to vote.

More Black people came out to vote in Georgia than ever before, enough to turn a red state BLUE, elect a so-called JEWE and a BLACK MAN, that governor said that won't ever happen again so, he rushed through a sweeping voters restriction voting laws since JIM CROW.

Ron, the people have no right to vote for the President directly. That is just a "norm". The legislature makes the rules and that's what 43 states including Pennsylvania are busy doing right now.

Steve, you are right, the Supreme Court affirmed in Bush v. Gore that “The individual citizen has no federal constitutional right to vote for electors for the President of the United States.” This to is apart of keeping control and power in Republican hands and that is what these red states are doing since TRUMP lost to BIDEN.

Republicans know that they can't win if we have a high voter turnout so, they are working really hard to keep the vote LOW by making it harder for the poor and middle-class people to VOTE which is an act of turning back the hands of time, back to what some people may call "THE GOOD OLD DAYS."

Let's go back to the days of White Supremacy "FOR WHITE ONLY."

Republicans are working to make sure our elections are secure. If a mailed-in ballot doesn't even need a signature then it's not secure. And this BS about handing out water - why the hell are the lines so long? is it that the urban 'crats don't have the civic duty to correct their own sorry situation? You can't hand out water on long lines because that is something we call "electioneering."

Let me start with this one: Republicans are working to make sure our elections are secure. Steve, when FOX NEWS reports that the 2020 election ‘most secure in American history,’ federal election security officials say,
believe it.

2020 election ‘most secure in American history,’ federal election security officials say

This election cycle was the most secure ever, despite a surge in mail-invoting prompted by the coronavirus pandemic.

A joint statement issued on Thursday by the Elections Infrastructure Government Coordinating Council and the Election Infrastructure Sector Coordinating executive committees said this year’s election marked “the most secure in American history.”

“While we know there are many unfounded claims and opportunities for misinformation about the process of our elections, we can assure you we have the utmost confidence in the security and integrity of our elections, and you should too,” the statement read. “When you have questions, turn to elections officials as trusted voices as they administer elections.”

So, Steve, you can KEEP THAT LIE.

Steve, Your NEXT Question: And this BS about handing out water - why the hell are the lines so long?

Because the Republicans in The State Georgia closed many of the polling places in the Black Wards, which creates those long lines in the first place.

But that too backfired in their faces and Black people stood up in those long as- lines for 10 hours or more and Georgia's long line set-up by Republicans in the first place. Now this is what The Republicans in Georgia is now trying to make it even harder the vote but on outcome came out to be, a loss of both Republican Senate seats in the most secure elections ever.

There are long lines because there aren't enough precincts and there aren't enough precincts because there aren't enough election workers. FOLKS in the ghetto aren't even thinking about their own vote, let alone performing a civic service to keep their fellow FOLKS out of long lines so THEY can vote. Stop blaming the Republicans for a problem of your own making Ron.

Steve, you really need to open up your eyes, The Good Old Boys in Georgia lost not one but two Republican-held senate seats to The Democrats, that was the slap in the face of the 83rd Governor of the U.S. state of Georgia Brian Kemp.

The Republicans not only lost their seats to Democrats but The Republicans in The States of Georgia lost their seats
to a Democrat Jew and a Black Man and the governor went into action to make sure that would never happen again and that is dangerous to our democracy as the leader in The Free World.

Georgia gets to make its own election laws, same as Illinois, the only state of your concern and same as Pennsylvania, the only state of my concern. At my precinct I've never had to wait in line. If I ever had I'd have made some noise about it. Wouldn't you Ron?

YOUR QUESTION: At my precinct I've never had to wait in line. If I ever had I'd have made some noise about it. Wouldn't you Ron?

Steve, I would be happy to answer your question directly.

I would make noise about voter suppression, even if it happened to you in your state and I am here in Illinois because we are all Americans and voter suppression is WRONG AS HELL for any American, do you agree?

Let me ask you this question: Do you think suppressing the Black and Brown voters is the right thing to do?

Ron, the federal government doesn't have jurisdiction over Presidential elections. Read the Constitution. Illinois plays no part in Pennsylvania's choice of electors.

What I think is that the problem of long lines should be fixed. You have no exxcuse Ron. Maybe you just want to keep it that way.

Colored voters suppress their own vote Ron, 8 hour lines being a case in point. There should be enough precints to prevent 8 hour lines and you are trying to tell me "someone is suppressing my vote." Pick yourself up and do for yourself. Stop blaming me.
