“An Evening With Diana Ross” aired on NBC on March 6, 1977.
By 1977, Diana Ross had become one of the best known singers in the country, having come to fame as a result of singing with The Supremes before venturing out as a solo artist. Her television special, “An Evening With Diana Ross,” which premiered on March 6, 1977, helped her achieve more accolades including a nomination for an Emmy Award.
“An Evening With Diana Ross” became a double album on the Motown label that led to a one-woman show on Broadway for which she was awarded a special Tony Award.
When she was with The Supremes, the group became Motown’s most successful act. In fact, to this day, the Supremes stand as one of the nation’s most successful groups and one of the world’s best-selling all-female groups of all time.
