SC efforts continue to teach Black history despite attempts to end ‘woke indoctrination’
By Adam Parker aparker@postandcourier.com

This summer, a group of 25 high school freshmen will visit important historic sites and institutions, such as the International African American Museum, Emanuel AME Church, the Penn Center and S.C. State University, where they will learn about the Black experience.

The program, offered by Charleston Civil Rights and Civics in partnership with Kids on Point, is meant to foster both historical understanding and social interaction among a diverse group of students.

When people with different backgrounds and experiences come together and get to know one another, their biases and prejudices tend to fall away, organizer Leslie Skardon said.

“If we can build connections early, hopefully we can reduce partisanship,” she said.

Why do SC efforts need to teach Black history?

Steve, I believe, my of race people are a great people with a great and powerful history and our children need to know that. We are great mathematicians who planned the first greatest power and civilization on earth, Egypt, that is just one thing our children need to know and can learn.

Our children need to know, that the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and the only one that survives today, the Great Pyramid of Giza was constructed as a tomb for the Egyptian pharaoh Khufu. The precise details regarding the pyramid’s construction remain a mystery, as no written records have been found, but a number of estimates place its completion at sometime between 2560 B.C. and 2540 B.C. The pyramid initially rose about 481 feet, making it the world’s tallest man-made structure for thousands of years until it was surpassed in the early 1300s by England’s Lincoln Cathedral. Due to erosion, the pyramid now stands around 455 feet tall.

Steve, that is just one thing our children need to learn about our history.

Of course our children should learn that history Ron. What I asked was why "SC efforts" need to teach it. We can teach our own children. We don't need "SC efforts."

Because Steve, SC has a public school system which should be responsible for teaching the true history of American history. Steve, would you want the best education for your children?

Unfortunately Ron, public education doesn't give us the best education for our children. I don't trust public education to handle such a sensitive subject properly. We are going backwards when it comes to the legacy of slavery and civil rights and achieving equality. Networks like MSNBC are destroying our society with their EID approach. It's wrong and we need a better way. I'm leary of "SC efforts."

I for one, am very glad you have nothing to do with SC policies or the practices.

Steve, Charleston Civil Rights and Civics is the latest to launch a program of learning about civil rights and racial history, one geared toward high school students; others have been at it a while, and some programs are in development now.

I believe this program will receive positive reviews.

You aren't taking us forward Ron. You'll never be happy unless you're a victim. With these studies you get to be perpetual victims and you label us your perpetual oppressors.

NO!!! Steve, just think about it for a moment, you know more about American history NOW, then you did before you read this article. VICTIMS, No! I love and believe in this country, enough, to put my life on the line, so we can enjoy this country together and that is my greatest contribution to The United States of America.

I agree with this statement: "When people with different backgrounds and experiences come together and get to know one another, their biases and prejudices tend to fall away, organizer Leslie Skardon said."

This is just one of the purposes for my work here on Black In America.

Quick Question Steve, Who is us that you are referring too? Do you feel like that oppressors Steve?

Are you ashamed of America's great pass?

Let's talk about it Steve.

Ron, I came here in 2009 to learn about African-American history and culture. That's 14 years I've been here learning. I have an integrated view of 'us' but you are a segregationist. I am no oppressor, and I'm extremely disappointed in the racism I see from you, MSNBC, and the rest of the 'liberal' media.

I see that you put me in the mix with some of the Big Boy's like segregationist, MSNBC, and the rest of the 'liberal' media.

Steve, where in my work, that makes you say that I 'am a segregationist?

What racism are you talking about Steve?

Ron, what makes you think I have biases and predudices?

Sunday, March 12th 2023 at 10:15PM
Steve Williams
I don’t Steve and there is nowhere in my public writings that says you are Steve. As far as being bias is concerned, I never publicly address your biases. What’s the matter Steve are you feeling powerless, Now?

Or

Is this your way from distracting from my questions that I asked you?

Quick Question Steve, Who is us that you are referring too? Do you feel like that oppressors Steve?

Are you ashamed of America's great pass?

You aren't that innocent one Ron. Countless times you have accused me of being a white supremacist.

Steve Williams
The questions that I asked you was:

1. Who is us that you are referring too?

2. Do you feel like that oppressors Steve?

3. Are you ashamed of America's great pass?

I never accused you of being a white supremacist, if so, point out where in this blog where I accused you of being a white supremacist, point that out for me, can you do that Steve?

Ron, when you ignore everything I've told you in the past, and ask "do you feel like that oppressor," it's no longer a question but an accusation.

Steve, if I ignored you, it was mainly because I disagree with you on a given topic and NOT because of racism.

That is something I want you to understand.

What I think Ron, is that you're more concerned with educating the descendants of slavemasters, than the descendants of slaves.

Friday, March 24th 2023 at 2:37AM
Steve Williams
I can see why you may have thought that because if you listen, the slave was also talking to MASTER for years as well, by way of song. Our children both Black and White’s will understand the truth meaning of “Let my people GO.”
