The Day I Crashed

It's been over 30 years since I had my nervous breakdown in 1993.
I had just graduated with my Bachelors Degree (Political Science is dat why I don't like politics, I wonder; anyhu), I had been up for three days studying and preparing for dat long-anticipated walk across dat stage. I had also just finished a 40+ work week and my youngest son lay in the ICU at a local hospital with severe respiratory complications due to his premature birth, but dat's another Blog Topic.
So, there I was with 72 hours of NO sleep, running from werk to hospital with study notes in my hand and increasingly finding my life hysterical. Then came Friday and dat pink lay-off slip. Oh, no! No! No! No!
Well, bin der and done dat as we say. By midnight, my sister had me involuntarily committed to the local hospital's mental ward. I had a complete nervous breakdown with no hope of recovery from something called 'Bipolar Disorder II.'
I know and understand the sudden loss of a job or loved one can trigger the onset of a mental illness: Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Major Depression, Anxiety, PTSD. Suicide. (dial 988 for ANY mental health crisis).
