University of the District of Columbia's Fifth Annual Research Week Kicking Off March 31 (593 hits)


The University of the District of Columbia (UDC) is proud to announce Research Week 2025, its annual showcase of groundbreaking scholarship, taking place from March 31 to April 4 with presentations scheduled across the Van Ness and Lamond-Riggs campuses. Now in its fifth year, Research Week highlights the university’s commitment to Delivering on the Promise of being the research and innovation hub addressing the District’s critical needs.

“UDC Research Week 2025 is an opportunity to celebrate our success as the research laboratory for the D.C. government,” said Vice President of Research Victor McCrary. “And to showcase for the broader community that research isn’t just what we do—it’s who we are.”

Featured Speaker Events
• Monday, March 31, 11:30am, Opening Remarks - Invite only/RSVP required. Welcome remarks provided by UDC President Maurice D. Edington, with keynote speaker U.S. Air Force Office of Scientific Research Chief Engineer Lovica Ware.

• April 1, 11:30 a.m.: Food Justice Keynote and Seminar with UDC Professor Sabine O’Hara, Yale University Professor Jean Pierre Crousse, and University of Nevada, Las Vegas Professor of Architecture & Urbanism Steffen Lehman. UDC-Van Ness, Building 71, 5th Floor Multipurpose Room or via Zoom.

• March 31, 1 - 4:30 p.m.: School of Business and Public Administration at UDC-Van Ness, Building 38, 2nd Floor, Windows Lounge

• April 1, 10 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.: College of Agriculture, Urban Sustainability and Environmental Sciences at UDC-Van Ness, Building 71, 5th Floor, Multipurpose Room, and 2 - 7 p.m. in Building 32, Suite 200

• April 2, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.: Community College at UDC-Lamond-Riggs Auditorium, 5171 South Dakota Ave. NE

• April 3, 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.: College of Arts and Sciences at UDC-Van Ness, Building 71, 4th Floor, Atrium

• April 3, 1 – 3:30 p.m.: David A. Clarke School of Law at UDC-Van Ness, Building 38, 2nd Floor, Windows Lounge

• April 4, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.: School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at UDC-Van Ness, Student Center, Ballroom

Members of the media are invited to cover this incredible week-long event featuring a wide array of presentations, speaker events and more. Engage with faculty and students as they showcase innovative projects that address real-world challenges. From urban farming to the future of robotics, tax policy to cybertechnology, this annual event highlights UDC’s commitment to research that makes a difference.

The University of the District of Columbia is the only public university in Washington, D.C., and the second-oldest Historically Black College or University (HBCU) in the United States, with roots dating back to 1851. UDC is home to more than 80 academic programs, including a nationally recognized law school, a bustling community college and workforce development programs on multiple campuses.
