Actually.. thats a very good topic.. I feel both ways about it.. I mean I do think that some people do take it for granted. But, because of that, they have gotten more strict on the requirements to get it and that makes it harder for the people that really need it and dont take advantage of it. But, what can they do? All it is doing is making these kids suffer because a lot of these parents are selfish and irresponsible. I mean, I see it everyday. How can you have all designer clothes on and you with your child whos shoes are so small they cant walk? Its really a shame..

some people do..they become complacent and lack motivation to go get a job... lack of ambition and yes to some extent the way in which the system is built prevent them from getting ahead

I believe it hinders 100%. I am a single mother of 2 beautiful kids and I am employed full-time. When I went on maternity leave, I STILL did not qualify for assistance because I still had an income ($276.00/wkly). In order for me to qualify, I would have to quit my job so that I had no income, only to be told that I needed to look for work to remain on the program. It's ass backwards!.
The system will help one who is not trying to help themselves at all, but will not help one who is making it and may need a little assistance for just a short time.

Some women live by this system and will make every effort to stay on it, like making more and more babies... it's ridiculous, but then as a black women want to blame everyone else. Then when she decides she wants to work, she can't because she doesn't have a babysitter for her kids...

I believe welfare should go away altogether and there should be more effort put into educating the reciepients and opening up more jobs to help. Sorry for venting, it's just freakin annoying...
