my guide to being happy with yourself
I've been doing some thinking and I've come to the conclusion that the only way to assure one's happiness is by removing anything and everyone that places a cloud over their day. It's always so simple for us to keep negavtive strangers out of our lives, but when it comes to loved ones: family, friends, boyfriends, girlfriends, etc., we tend to let things slide- compromising our own happiness, walking on egg-shells, for fear that the one we love will either leave or be upset. So instead we hold back, drowning in a pool of unrelenting misery, putting on a smile when in reality we're hurt, upset, or whatever the case may be. one day we'll all come to realize that just because you love someone, doesn't give him/her a free pass to hurt you, disrepect you, or make you feel as though your happiness is not a priority.
the best advice i can offer others and myself is: do not compromise doing what's best for you, for anyone- especially the ones who you know dont deserve it. and never compromise your own happiness, because if you don't make your happiness a priority- no one else will either. let this be a new day. no longer will i allow negative people in my life, nor will i continue to allow those ALREADY IN MY LIFE to remain there if they do not hold my best interest at heart. From this day forth, if you are not here to help me when I'm down, you WILL NOT be there to share the luxury of being with me when I'm up.
