Do you Remember when...!!!!!!!!! (333 hits)

Do you remember when to be called a "dog" was a fighting word? Do you remember when pimping wasn't not "cool"? Or when *****/n*gga was demeaning no matter what race of people used the word? Why is it that words of this sort embraced now?

Yeah I remember when...And honestly, I don't know or understand why these words are embraced. It seems like individuals have forgotten or choose to disregard the effect that those words may have on others. If only we knew or took into consideration what the word "n*gga" or "*****" means...According to dictionary.com, that/those words are the most offensive words in the English language.
Check this out...
"The term ***** is now probably the most offensive word in English. Its degree of offensiveness has increased markedly in recent years, although it has been used in a derogatory manner since at least the Revolutionary War. Definitions 1a, 1b, and 2 represent meanings that are deeply disparaging and are used when the speaker deliberately wishes to cause great offense. Definition 1a, however, is sometimes used among African-Americans in a neutral or familiar way. Definition 3 is not normally considered disparaging—as in “The Irish are the *****s of Europe” from Roddy Doyle's The Commitments—but the other uses are considered contemptuous and hostile." www.dictionary.com
Did you notice what definition 1a is referred to? That is horrible. Why would you choose to call anyone or allow anyone to call you a name that is noticed as one of the most offensive names in English.

Life and death are in the power of the tongue, (check it out..Proverbs 18:20-21);
A lot, or some, people wonder why there are so many ignorant people in the world...let me speak for myself, in my family, we some times question why some individuals are the way they are (note that we question this because we know how they were raised, its opposite of what they are living now)...when I listen to some of family members conversations... I hear "n*gga, this or n*gga that" those individuals lives are excuse me, crap! They are not doing anything with themselves, and those around them, their friends are doing anything either. I honestly believe that if you magnify something enough, with your words, that thing will begin to manifest in your life, whether good or bad. Thats why the Bible tells us to guard our hearts, check it out Proverbs 4:23-24
" Above all else, guard your heart,
for it is the wellspring of life.
Put away perversity from your mouth;
keep corrupt talk far from your lips."
I'm telling you, I learned by watching other people's life and learning myself, that your mouth plays a big part in your future well-being.
As far as why this words are embraced now, its also in the Scriptures....because of ignorance. Check it out: Hosea 4:6
"my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge.
"Because you have rejected knowledge,
I also reject you as my priests;
because you have ignored the law of your God,
I also will ignore your children. "
We speak these words so much that they become a part of our lifestyles; We should take the time to either educate ourselves on the meanings of the words, for those who dont know, and you do know the mean, consider it when you are calling someone an "ignorant or inferior". Think about it, when somebody calls you a "n*gga" they are saying that you are "ignorant" they are saying or professing that you are "a person who is economically, politically, or socially disenfranchised"...is that who you are? is that what who you want to be? No! So why do we except it...
"Well, my brother, sister, cousin, friend, knows what I mean when I call him/her that" So what of it? What is the literal meaning? Just because you gave it a new meaning doesnt mean that its original meaning no longer exist. Think about.

Candice you're absolutely right. It seems as though the black race is the only race of people to embrace words of belittlement and take them as words of endowment over time... sad but true!
