The Secret- What Secret- (1501 hits)

Some time ago I watched/ read about the “Secret” and I am just getting the time to write about it.

Let me start by saying…there is no dangum Secret. Ask any farmer how to grow vegetables and they’ll let you in on the Secret to your success. Many times, we use our big brains to over thunk-stuff. Sure, you should give love and associate yourself with positive things…I’m all for that. As well, you should remove negative energy from your life…again I 100% agree.

But here’s the part that our folks need to overstand. When a farmer wants to grow corn they:
1. Cultivate the soil to support corn
2. PLANT corn seed
3. Provide the best possible environment for the corn to take root
4. Provide the corn what is needed to grow
5. And like Magic..they get corn!

That’s not a Secret. The same thing holds true for you. Think about it like a huge heavy object. Once an object breaks its equilibrium point, there is very little that can be done to stop that object from falling over. You too have an equilibrium or tipping point.

If you set events in motions, provide the right environment for those things to take root, and give the support needed to see them through…it is darn near impossible to stop your efforts.

If you want more money, set the processes in place to make or save more money. Follow your plan as if you were growing corn…and your equilibrium point will tip. Thereby you will get more money. This process works with everything in nature: Plant, cultivate, support, harvest.

There you are…and it didn’t cost you $19.95 for the DVD or book.

Unfortunately as simple as you put it, for some people, that is harder to understand than the concept of "the secret"... The law of attraction. I think the dvd just scratched the surface.

Greetings Dr. Glover
I firmly believe in your common sense message. However you must know that common sense is not always common practice. The Secret is just another point of view with it's DRAMATIC overtone to a basic concept. Since we're all in different chapters of the Book of life, one may need several influences and mediums just to get through a given day. Sure, The Secret wants to give a glimmer of hope for those who may be on the verge of a giving up. WOW, you mean if I just ASK, BELIEVE and RECEIVE I too can prosper in all avenues of my life ..... Hopefully, those who have watched The Secret see it as scratching the surface of the ultimate goal - an abundance of "CORN'

Tamela,

I agree with you 100%. My issue is that folks who didn't get to see or read the secret think there is something out there that they don't have access to that magically guides the universe; so they do nothing. Or folks who did see it sit in the living room waiting for the miracle to occur.

The secret is action! Part of that believe jazz is doing something. I don't want our people feeling like they have been left off the bus, because there's a secret way things work.

But I agree, the secret is just a new way of seeing the world around us.

True dat Will:)

So here is a specific thing you can do. I am ALWAYS asked about quick money, becoming a millionaire, or love. Many of the folks who ask have no plan, are spending money on dumb-stuff, trying to get what they want instead of what their parent wants and wait a miracle to fall in their laps.

This is going to be mind opening, so sit down everyone: WRITE STUFF DOWN!!
1. If our people would simply document our plans, we would be mostly there. If you want to loss weight, save $100K, make $1M, afford a vacation, put your kids through college, or SAVE YOUR MARRAIGE...writing it down is the start.
Can you imagine if you went on your job and nothing was in writing? What if you went to the bank and all your records were in some guys memory..."no Mrs. Jones I don't recall you making that deposit". What if your doctor had no records? If your marriage is as important as your bank account, plan out what you want in the relationship and manage it as if it were your job.
Write down the 5Ws (Who, What, When, Where, Why).
The why part is critical. If you can convince yourself that you need to do something...guess what...you'll do it! This is how you cultivate your soil.

2. Next you need to act on the plan. Say you want to save $100K. Look for places that you are blowing money: Coffee breaks, eating out, Hair do, new purses, car washes, the club, cable, cell phones, CHURCH etc… You could very well be spending $1000s of bucks each month on things counter to your goal! Don’t worry, once you get the paper you can give your 10% for the lord:) This is what I mean by planting your seeds. The same in relationships, find out what makes you and your partner happy. Don’t try to change your mate…try pleasing the one you love.
3. Now you need to do get rid of the weeds: this is like the law of attraction stuff. Same principle here…the difference is that I call this area PRIORITIES. There will be negative things that crop up. The car got a flat tire, the frig broke, the kids need new shoes, the heater stop working, an unplanned baby was born, there was infidelity.
Compare the problem to the “Why” you came up with above. If the frig trumps college…buy the frig. If buying your own home trumps the flat tire…figure out a new way to get tires. If being with your soul-mate trumps the one night stand…figure it out…work it out.
Think about your goal as a real corn field…ie….you can’t use real ears of corn to buy tires! You don’t burn down a field become the corn didn’t grow high enough or the crows won’t stop trying to eat it.
4. Now that you have beaten back the weeds and bugs, you need to nurture your garden. Your field will not grow without water, fertilizer, TCL, and over watch. You need to make sure you are constantly doing stuff to make your plan work. If for instance you wanted to save a troubled marriage, you need to do the things that your significant other needs to grow. You couldn’t grow corn my pouring your favorite drink on it. You have to give corn what corn needs. You have to enable corn to grow. Same concept.
Most important here, sometimes you have to go back and reassess why the corn isn’t growing the way you’d like. Or you may need to plant a different crop to get the results you are looking for. Maybe, you are not good for this type of corn and this type corn ain’t good for you!
5. Reap the rewards of your labor. Caution: Make sure your “Why” matches your end result. If you wanted $1M to buy your dream home, but think your reward is reaching $250K to buy a high end vehicle…you may be harvesting your crop too soon and destroying your soil. If the corn keeps catching the same bugs, no matter what you spray…never settle for immature corn. Relook at step one, plant a new crop and move on…

If we follow this very simple formula, there is almost nothing we cannot do. The secret word here is “DO”.

i agree with your concept on plant the seed and the harvest will come. i work with a business group whose philosophy is the same as this in regards to financial growth. lots of times we all look for that get rich quick money scheme, such as the lottery.

also, check out a book i read called "the tipping point". it talks about how events throughout history happened in what seemed like a short period of time. but in reality other smaller events were coming together all along that finally came together at one single tipping point.
