I've noticed in past years that people refuse to offer a good morning or a hello in passing. They choose to use more energy to frown and look away than to smile and reply with a hello. It takes more muscles to frown than it does to smile, go figure???

I know! It makes me what to stop speaking. What's worse is when you speak and get a nasty look. I was raised to speak when entering a room, when passing a person. Saying ''Hi/Good morning/Good afternoon/Good evening' or a simple nod of the head will doesn't expend vasts amounts of anyone's energy. Ah apathy...

This reminds me of a situation where a friend of mine cussed me out for not speaking to him one day. I honestly was so caught up in thought that I didn't hear his greeting. I know this is the case SOME of the time. But in general I have found that people are just plain rude. But I will not let their social faux pas stop me from speaking. Im convinced that there are some people who appreciates a greeting and a warm smile. Besides you never know how your kindness might effect another individual's day.

Yeah, I agree !!! I'm 56yrs old and I've been specking to people as long as I can remember , I was taught I speck to everyone even if they don't speck, when a person don't speck back to me, I just ask God to forgive them, it makes me feel good inside anyway, because I know when I speck to someone and they don't speck back, I know that I just planted a seed of kindness, just maybe, maybe, that person will pass on that same kindness, that you pass on to them, I won't let that stop me from specking to anyone! ! ! !

TG and SB, you are both right. We can only be held responsible for our actions. I commend you SB for planting the seeds of kindness. It is up to the other person to do with it what the will. From the moment you give it, it then belongs to them. They will have to answer for their use of it, alone, at judgement. If they bless others with it, they are doing the will of God. If they don't, they are the only one to reap the reward of the choice. Bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing! GB
