Everybody wants 2 know did Pastor Warren help presumptive republican nominee, John McCain during last Saturday's Civil Forum at a church in Orange County, California. Apparently, during the forum interviewer Pastor Warren told the Evangelical audience that Senator John McCain was in a cone of silence, in a backroom and couldn't hear his interview with Senator Obama. When in fact, John McCain wasn't in a backroom in the church building, he was in a car on the way 2 the forum and could have heard the interview on the radio. This stirred media frenzy with questions of: Did Pastor Warren lie 4 John McCain, so that he could prepare himself before the interview?
Now....I watched the interview closely. I watched the reactions of the 2 presidential candidates and I listened intently. When Obama and McCain shook hands and hugged, making their 1st public appearance 2gether since the race began I have 2 admit, I was anxious 2 finally see the 2 Senators 2gether so I could view the reactions.
Barack Obama made his appearance 1st and answered questions ranging from abortion, faith, same s*x marriage and wealth amongst other topics. I felt Senator Obama was thoughtful with his answer approach and and you can tell he was really thinking about his answer. He gave lengthy detailed answers 4 just about every question asked of him. He's pro-choice when it comes 2 abortion; he believes evil exists and he wants 2 work on solving our energy problem. When asked about what America's moral failure was as well as the failures in his life, Senator Obama took experiences from his life talking about his difficult youth growing up with a single mother and no father. He spoke of his past drug and drinking issues in his teenage years, struggling 2 understand who he really was and where he belonged in this world. Obama commented that he was so selfish and dissatisfied with himself, that he couldn't focus on other's. Obama stated that he felt America's moral failure is not abiding by the rule of helping your fellow brother in regards 2 slavery, poverty, racism, s*xism and people left with no opportunities.
When Senator McCain was interviewed being asked the same question about America's moral failure as well as his own moral failures, McCain commented that his failure was his 1st marriage. In case you didn't know, John McCain's 1st wife Carol McCain was a supermodel. When John McCain left 2 serve in the Navy, his wife Carol was in a life changing car accident that altered her figure and appearance. When McCain came home 2 find his bride not the way he left her, he started cheating on her, running around with different women. 1 day he met his current wife Cindy in Hawaii, and discovered she was an heiress 2 a billion dollar beer company and that Cindy's father could help further his political career. McCain 4got about his wife Carol and pursued Cindy, in Cindy's words, "John traveled all over the country 2 be with me."
When asked about America's moral failure, Senator McCain said, "America's failure is not devoting ourselves 2 causes greater then our self-interest. During 911 instead of telling Americans 2 go shopping, we should have told Americans 2 join the Peace Corp, the military and volunteer. This is not about you, you have 2 serve a great cause better then yourselves."
It completely shocked me that Senator McCain didn't mention slavery as America's biggest moral failure! Okay....I'll be honest, it didn't shock me that McCain didn't mention slavery, because it's John McCain. He makes it very clear that he could care less about slavery and the millions of people effected by it, so 2 not hear him acknowledge it as the Government chooses 2 do also, doesn't surprise me. But the fact that he didn't acknowledge it further indicates 2 me, that African Americans shouldn't look 4 an apology 4 slavery if he becomes president. Not 2 mention his answer was vague and sounded rehearsed.
CNN reporter Larry King interviewed Pastor Warren Monday night 2 ask him if he helped McCain cheat. Okay......Pastor Warren is a pastor and of course he wouldn't admit 2 such a thing, that would make him look like a hypocrite and a false pastor. So while Larry King asked his questions, Pastor Warren fumbled, stuttered and hesitated through just about all of them. Now I know Pastor Warren is a pastor and all, but watching him stumble made me feel like he was lying 2 cover up 4 McCain. He couldn't even answer the questions straight up without going 3 miles around the corner and back again, which is what John McCain does a lot of 2 avoid questions.
4 example, Larry King asked Pastor Warren: "Did you know Senator McCain was not in the greenroom, but in a car on the way 2 the forum?" Pastor Warren responded, "I didn't know he wasn't in the greenroom, secret service was with him the whole time. McCain was put in a building completely separate from the church. There is a TV in the room McCain was in, but I had someone disconnect the television 2 days ago, so McCain couldn't have watched the television."
Okay so you disconnect a television by unplugging it, how does Pastor Warren know it wasn't plugged back in from 2 days ago? And if McCain wasn't even in the room but in a car, how can Pastor Warren make an assumption that he was in the building, who he was with and that he would be in the exact room with the unplugged television?
Larry King asked the pastor was he surprised John McCain didn't mention slavery as America's greatest moral failure? Pastor Warren responded, "I was very surprised he didn't mention it. But if you saw, he's eyes teared up when he talked about his marriage, the war with Georgia in Russia and......and.....ummm...what else did he tear up about? Oh I 4got what it was.....oh yea....he teared up when Mother Teresa recommended 2 him that he adopt an orphan."
Okay.......what does tearing up have 2 do with answering the question? I just thought it was so interesting that Pastor Warren took the time out 2 personally let Americans know......in case they didn't catch it, that Senator McCain teared up. I did watch McCain and no, I can't say I saw a glisten in his eyes. And Pastor Warren you can't compare McCain tearing up on other issues that have absolutely nothing 2 do with, or can hold up against the atrocities of slavery. Sorry try again next time.
Both presidential candidates were asked what was the most gut wrenching decision they ever had 2 make? Senator Obama replied by saying, opposing the war was a serious decision because there just wasn't enough evidence that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. Senator McCain answered this question by saying, "Long ago and faraway in a prison camp in Vietnam, I was told I could leave prison early. I said no and stayed and the high ranking officer told me 2 go back 2 my cell and that it would be very tough on me now." Through the whole forum, McCain seemed 2 only have military experiences 2 refer back 2. I assume he does this 2 make a point that he was in a war, and 2 better make his case that he knows more about wars then his opponent. But did you catch McCain's fairytale beginning? Long ago and far away......who does he think he's talking 2 kindergartners? My goodness give us some credit 4 having common sense.
Pastor Warren also asked the candidates 2 define rich. Senator Obama made a joke that if you sell over 25 million books that constitutes you as being rich, referring 2 pastor Warren's record breaking sells with his book, "The Purpose Driven Life." In conversation with Larry King, Pastor Warren slipped up and said he gave 90% of his book earnings 2 charity. I say slipped up because after he said it, he hesitated as if he didn't mean 2 say it. Larry King asked him immediately after the words slipped out of his mouth, did he give 90% of his earnings 2 charity. Pastor Warren stood with his mouth open unable 2 answer, and eventually said yes. Hmmm.....I'm pretty sure after the interview Warren's 1st phone call was 2 his accountant 2 have them edit a few things. LOL! Can't be a pastor and get caught in a lie you know?
Obama went on 2 say that if you make between $200-$250 thousand dollars you may not be living on easy street, but your doing well. Senator McCain's response was a lot different and although Pastor Warren said he was looking 4 a ball park figure when defining rich, McCain had this 2 say: “Some of the richest people I’ve ever known in my life are the most unhappy. I think that rich is — should be defined by a home, a good job and education and the ability to hand to our children a more prosperous and safer world than the one that we inherited. I don’t want to take any money from the rich. I want everybody to get rich. I don’t believe in class warfare or redistribution of the wealth. But I can tell you for example there are small businessmen and women who are working 16 hours a day, seven days a week that some people would classify as, quote, ‘rich,’ my friends, who want to raise their taxes and raise their payroll taxes. Let’s have — keep taxes low. Let’s give every family in America a $7,000 tax credit for every child they have. Let’s give them a $5,000 refundable tax credit to go out and get the health insurance of their choice. Let’s not have the government take over the health care system in America.
“So I think if you’re just talking about income, how about $5 million. But seriously, I don’t think you can — I don’t think, seriously that — the point is that I’m trying to make here seriously — and I’m sure that comment will be distorted, but the point is — the point is — the point is that we want to keep people’s taxes low and increase revenues. And my friend, it was not taxes that mattered in America in the last several years. It was spending. Spending got completely out of control. We spent money in a way that mortgaged our kids futures. My friends, we spent $3 million of your money to study the DNA of bears in Montana. Now I don’t know if that was a paternity issue or a criminal issue, but the point is — but the point is it was $3 million of your money. It was your money.
“And you know, we laugh about it, but we cry and we should cry because the Congress is supposed to be careful stewards of your tax dollars. so what did they just do in the middle of an energy crisis when in California we are paying $4 a gallon for gas, went on vacation for five weeks. I guarantee you, two things they never miss, a pay raise and a vacation. And we should stop that and call them back and not raise your taxes. We should not and cannot raise taxes in tough economic times. So it doesn’t matter really what my definition of rich is because I don’t want to raise anybody’s taxes.”
Really John McCain? Well how do you expect everybody 2 be rich if you continue 2 follow George Bush policies, will continue 2 give tax breaks 2 the wealthy, gas companies and lobbyists? Not 2 mention the breaks that are given 2 Bush's friends in the middle east. My friends......lol, sorry I just had 2 do it! But seriously I can go on and on and on, about how John McCain defined rich. I can take each sentence, break it down and read in between the lines 2 tell you what he means. If you really want me 2, all you have 2 do is ask and I will. But from reading his answer, you really shouldn't need me 2. The hypocrisy, idiocy and ignorance that lives within the McCain campaign is seriously sickening!
If you want further proof that you shouldn't vote 4 John McCain as our country's next president, watch his ads and his speeches. And wait 4 a debate face 2 face with Senator Obama and Senator McCain, and pay close attention 2 what each candidate says. I promise you after their 1st debate, I rest my case.
