CHOOSING GOOD PEOPLE TO BE AROUND YOU (322 hits)

If you're in a position where the success of your job and even more so your life depends on the type of people you have around you, then you need to read the following. This will bless you real good.

We have come out of a natural year of New Beginnings to go into a spiritual year of New Beginnings. Let's start things off on a solid foundation, remember when you forget who you serve, you quickly fall prey to the basest human instincts. Leaders are not exempt. Leaders who cannot humble themselves to serve God and those He has raised up will eventually act out of selfish motives.

Just because a person has vision and occupies a leadership position doesn't necessarily mean that the people will follow. All leaders have vision. But all people who possess vision are not leaders. A compelling vision alone will not make someone a leader. Nor will a great vision automatically be fulfilled simply because it is compelling or valuable. Followers need to buy in to the leader.

The long time president of the Boston Celtics, Red Auerbach said, "how you select people is more important than how you manage them once they are on the job, or team. It you start with the right people, you won't have problems later on." When I chose the people that I want to be close to me in business and ministry, I chose people who:

KNOW MY HEART: This takes time for both of us, and desire on their part.
BE LOYAL TO ME: they are an extension of my work and me.
BE TRUSTWORTHY: They must not abuse authority, power, or confidences.
BE DISCERNING: They make decisions for me.
HAVE A SERVANT'S HEART: They carry a heavy load because of my high demands.
BE A GOOD THINKER: Our two heads are better than my one.
BE ABLE TO FOLLOW THROUGH: They take authority and carry out the vision
HAVE A GREAT HEART FOR GOD: My heart for God is my driving force in life

"There is no passion to be found playing small, in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living"
Nelson Mandela, 11th President of South Africa

The road to happiness lies in two simple principles: “Find what it is that interests you and that you can do well. And when you find it put your whole soul into it every bit of energy and ambition and natural ability you have”.
John D. Rockefeller III
