Crabs in a Barrel - Just Sayin © - September 9, 2008 (2247 hits)

Wassup Connect Platform; how ya’ll doing? Whether it was a great day or the second Monday of the week, you’re in the place to be. Thanks for stopping by. Get comfortable and enjoy today’s tour of the Connect Platform neighborhood.

I’m struggling for words today. Folks are frustrated and angry; the air is acrid. Everywhere I turn somebody is launching or under attack. Folks, I see cyberspace and this network community as an opportunity for growth and organization unlike anything we’ve seen in the last 40 years, and once again I see us imploding. I’m saddened and I just don’t understand. In the 60’s we burned down our neighborhoods and stole from our neighbors. The rage was justified; the target was ill advised. Today we indiscriminately assassinate each other. Yeah there’s the drugs and guns, but they aren’t what I’m talking about. The things we say to and about each other; our still to pervasive crabs in a barrel mentality. The rage is still justified and the target is still ill advised.

Do ya’ll recognize this family of network for what it is? Do you see our unprecedented opening we have to build each other up? Everyday, I read blogs about God/dess an blessing and being holy, and everyday one of us snipes at another, mocks another’s dreams or worse their bared heart. I know this ain’t a Connect Platform disease; I even know in large part I’m preaching to the choir. I just see too many Black, African American, Cuban, Puerto Rican, African Nationals, Haitian people, dark skinned, light skinned, educated, religious, thug people hating on each other, and honestly ya’ll, it makes me cry,

I don’t know that what I’m saying matters a damn to any of you, but ya’ll have grown to mean a lot to me in these few days, so I’m saying it. I see us. as a community. doing a new thing. I see us walking in love, being respectful of our differences. I believe we can be the light, that we can disagree without hating. I believe we can build on our similarities, on our shared experiences. I see us celebrating and supporting our diversities; I see this, Connect Platform, community as a place where “blessed and prosperous” are more than cliché, they are made manifest. Just Sayin.

Are you sure you are smiling at the crabs in the bottom of the barrel? Your energy is so positive and uplifting, but I feel you about that ole stinking barrel.

What people fail to realize is that crabs at the bottom get cooked, too. So if we keep pulling each other down, nobody makes it to the top to even reaach back and save another.

What I have learned in my life's journey so far is to surround myself with the strongest of the barrel. Most times, IMMHO, they are the crabs in the middle who hear the cries of the ones below them and the screams of the ones above them. Thus, the crabs in the middle learn from both and make the best out of life rather than complain and get cooked!

Is there a butter sauce for these crabs? If not then let's do what we need to do to finally get rid of this barrell and make things happen.
