First thought, that I don't know anything. (ha ha) That not only has technology gone in fast forward at an astounding rate, but that they have too. My kids were the ones that taught me about my computer, that I purchased!, that allowed me to be here typing this today! Where, oh where, would I be today without my kids? What would I be doing without them? They make us strive to better ourselves because they unwittingly show us everything we love and hate about ourselves many times a day. They teach us how to be young, stay young, and feel young when our bodies say we are old. They teach us to break down those barriers we adults have built. They teach us that being is all that's neccessary. That oppinions are like butts, we all have one and they usually stink. We don't have to like everything, do everything, be everything, just be there. They teach me that I am a valuable part of their existance. That I am the listening ear when no one wants to hear about it. That I am the eyes that see what others judge unworthy to look at. That I am the arms to hold them when they feel awkward and alone and unloved. Kids, ours and other's, teach us to love and live unconditionally. They teach us that life is short...and fast! though it sometimes seems to drag along at a snails pace, moreso when we want to get something done. (In their case...to grow up). They teach me to never stop learning with an open mind and that, though we may not be able to please everyone all the time, someone out there is still looking at you, watching you, pleased with you, happy you are alive! You matter because you are here today. They teach us to laugh at what doesn't seem so funny. To smile because you can, and because it could make someone's day better. To breathe and be thankful that we are still here, carrying on, causing ripples in this great big pond. Be sure to tell a kid how wonderfull they are today. Because isn't that what drives us to better our communities, our lives, our world? Aren't we all just trying to medicate and heal the mistakes of our ancestors? To learn from their mistakes, and trying not to make the same mistakes ourselves?
