MJ great question!! JT awesome blog, dude!!!! EB I agree. My son listens to hip-hop and rap, and I must say the groove is too cool. The sound is the first thing that hits you. Where I tend to say, "shut it off" is when I hear things about carrying guns, violence, "pimping hoes", get rich even if you have to take it by force, type messages. I am so thankful to the christian music community that has allowed a forum for christian rap and hip-hop music with a possitive message of love and encouragement. If money were of no importance, would the messages change? If the answer is "no", then it is another issue altogether. Find the root of the real problem and the answers should soon manifest. Ignorance is a HUGE problem, no matter the race. Ignorance is not stupidity, it is lack of knowledge and understanding. The freedom of speech is not the problem, the will to choose whether or not to listen and consider the possibilities and choosing not to participate that is. God doesn't force us to come to Him, we cannot force change in others either. Manipulation is in the enemy's toolkit. Love, compassion, patience, perserverance, peace, hope, sincerity, and all else in this creation are in our toolkit. A lesson we can learn from the music itself, perhaps, is that they know what they are saying, and they say it proudly. Daddy says...Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. If you should begin to see answers to your question, let me know. Remember, we are to be as "wise as serpents, gentle as doves". GB
PS. note on "get rich even if you have to take it by force".... Daddy says, Give and it shall be given unto you, pressed down, shaken together, running over. It is better to give than to recieve. Theft is wrong. Giving is God's will. Give them more to say. If they see "it is good", like God they just might say, "it was so" or at the very least "amen". (which means "let it be done") GB
Agreed!
This is a good post. Hip hop is real and necessary because for many, it tells the story of their lives. When you break down the message inside of hip hip, the characters within the walls of that music are real for the people who most enjoy it. If you really take time to listen and feel it, you’ll see that it’s just like any other genre of music. Each one touches a segment of the community and plays an important role.

This is one of the realest post about Hip Hop and the men and women that it effect that I have read. Love and hope seem to be words that have the vocabulary of our communities and it's time to bring those back into existence.
