Murray???????? (251 hits)

Last night I posted a blog titled "Casting Your Vote." This morning I come on the site and the first thing I see is an advertisement for Murray Povich. Now this is a fine example of voting against your interest. Time after time I read from our members that they are concerned with the image of Black People. Well, Hello! Povich is one of the biggest perpetuators of negative image of Black People.

I don't really want to hear about this being about money or censorship. Does this community have the right to sell advertising to whomever they choose? Yes, but what is their responsibility? I'm just askin' Weigh in.

Barbara, I say like it or not if you've got the money to advertise more than likely you won't be turned down. It's about black and it's about green too! Expenses are costly to run sites like this one, and look at this way we get to do this at his expense and not our own. We are allowed to support each other with his money.

No responsibility. Just like in consciousness development. You're free to do what you want. Now, that in no way insinuates that I am agreeing with what they do or saying that anyone has to by into it. And yes, they should want to do something else but they don't have to.

Barbara, I have to say that as far as advertising is concerned, if they can pay then so be it. As for Maury and the negative images of blacks, these people are the ones that need to be held accountable for their actions or lack thereof. People of all races end up on his show, not just blacks. I'm really starting to get tired of people making it seem as if some of these black folks don't contribute to what we see. He sleeping around, she sleeping around, people don't know who fathered their children, that is the bigger issue.

Everything about black folk is not positive period and yes there should be far more of the positive shown in all realms of the media, but consistantly attempting to make it seem as if people are just victims all the time is getting very tiresome, we come from a people that are true blue survivors in every sense of the word. Look at what they endured and was still able to pass along a legacy that despite everything we have still overcome many obstacles. The job is not done yet and we must keep pushing.
