Hip Hop in Black America (296 hits)

At one point African Americans in the Hip Hop music industry had little if any control of the distribution. Of the music they played ,and as a result African Americans were exploited by people who cared very little for our culture or the damage that they would do to our people,by promoting a brand of music so destructive spiritually ,and socially that no other form of music in the history of mankind could compare to it. It's the only music that the fan base is encouraged not to have love for each other, but in fact in some cases kill each other. Even Nazi hate songs didn’t suggest that they hate each other or senselessly kill other Nazi's, but that is the case with some styles of Hip Hop, and at one time you could peddle this plague on our people by saying‘ our young people just expressing how it is growing up in the hood; it’s the world we live in, and so on, And we as a people stood back and said nothing. There were no calls from African American leaders back then warning of the impending danger to us all that was about to come. Though many in other communities sound the alarm; mostly out of fear that it would spread to their children. Yet we looked the other way. We reasoned that so many young black males would get a chance to get out of the hood, and reap the financial rewards of a successful music careers, that the good would out weight the bad. Well fast forward to the future; at this point African Americans are moguls in the music industry, and have the power to unite and change the course of our musical history back to one of joy and hope. The challenge is even greater now because many. African Americans with power in the Music Industry have learned exploitation from the very best ;now we have members of our own community taking the lead in the undermining of their own peoples spirituality. They want us to believe that God given talent is what they say it is. Not that the gift of music is the song of our spirits, and our hearts can create melodies of love or hate. Its not that they don’t love their people just that the love of money, and the promise of kingdoms has clouded their judgment in many cases. Not to mention that we as a people have not stood up and taken an spiritual stand. The music, and other forms of entertainment reflects the spiritual condition of the people it represents, and the type of entertainment that we are allowing are children to be exposed to shows that we are in an spiritual, and moral dilemma. We can no longer stand by, and let our own as well as others our outside of our community continue to use a small part of our culture to highjack the Black entertainment, and merchandising market for their own valueless greed. Our music is the sound tracks of our lives, and we as a people should make sure it’s one of love ,and hope Jesse L Turner (gospelstruth.com)
