Today another 2 day intense training. We learned the rules of the game Obama style. The speaker Tara Martin, who is the Field Director is a dynamo sister that should be on this site, really speak's a King's English but keeps it real and funny!!.
Dear sisters and brothers, this is an inclusive campaign. The skills we are learning are really management skills. Applicable anywhere.The other benefit is the quality of persons volunteering on this campaign. NO special skills are needed. They will train.
When he gets in office there will be jobs, positions and perks. I just wanted to share this with you. I am not just doing this because I have a bunch of time on my hands and nothing else to do. If you recall I have an elderly parent and now a grand-child to take care of. But I will be darn if I let that stand in the way of the incredible networking that I need to do to reach my goals.
Many of you have businesses or are authors, you would be surprised how this can work for you. Here are just a few of the connects I have made: I will be in video for Obama, and the sister who is doing it is starting as a filmmaker /producer/songwriter.
Tentatively I will run the campaign of a woman running for a Council seat. That is a paid position, and I was not going to turn that down! and where did I learn how to be a Campaign Manager? in these Obama camps. Probably the very best training I could have received.
Business persons, people in the entertainment field and people who have a cause. White, Black, Brown, it doesn't matter we all bleed red and green is the color of money.
In your neck of the woods, meetings are going on. Think of it as a fact finding cause. Some of the people I have met will remain my friends long after this election. I just wanted to share this because there was a time when I didn't know how important this kind of volunteer work could be if one is looking to reap rewards.
Having lived a minute, and learning a little bit, I did not want to look back and know that I didn't do all I could to help our brother get elected. I missed joining the Civil Right's movement, and now I don't want to miss being part of Martin Luther King Jr's dream.
