For Black men to see another one of their own shining, designing and prepared for a mission is vital. Vital to our existence and resurgence as a powerful group of thinkers, inventors, creators, and educators.
Seeing Barack Obama, even if subconscious, strengthens us and unites us in solidarity with Black men all across American and abroad. When was the last time that we felt this connection, and were able to be proud standing at street corners or in barbershops sharing the joy of such an historical event??
I believe it was the Million Man March held some years ago now. We should have another one once Obama is elected. How powerful would that be?!
Black men in prison should be able to watch and march themselves at their respective prisons, just to be encouraged and strengthened just the same.
With Obama's face and energy being seen and felt, Black men are prouder, happier and looking to brighter days. Therefor, our children, mates, and families will be the same.
This is an important time in the days of justice, peace and equality. We Black men deserve a model of such magnitude to help us stay afloat and look to better days.
Black women, encourage your Black men to smile, to laugh, to dance, to sing, as he cherishes and celebrates being a Black Man in America.
Smile too, Black woman - it is just as important that you are strengthened and encouraged by Michelle Obama's presence.
