Q&A With Raymond Lucas

How do you enjoy your spare time?
"I enjoy reading and photography in my spare time. And here is a sample of my work.... http://bakerartistawards.org/nomination/view/raymondlucas "

Interviewed by Andrea Parker 01/13/11

What book have you read that changed your life?
"Book: "What Are The Leading Causes of Life?" by Therman E. Evans, M.D., Ph.D. is the most recent book that has changed my life. Before asking the above question, Dr. Evans asks "what are the leading causes of death?" This book made me painfully aware that I could immediately recite a long list of causes of death, but found it extremely difficult to identify the leading causes of LIFE. This brought me to the scary realization that if I could not easily identify the leading causes of life, then I was not focused enough on doing the things necessary to EXPERIENCE and ENJOY my life. This book shifted my focus to embrace those things that bring me joy, hence, a richer life, rather than focus those things that take life away. I encourage you to explore what the "Leading Causes of Life" are for you. Thanks, Ray"

My BlackInAmerica.com Profile
Why Are You Concerned About Black America:
I am extremely concerned about Black America because we have far too many of our people below basic levels of educational proficiency. And this lack of educational proficiency is rendering Black people irrelevant. Many of us grew up accepting the philosophy that education was like money in the bank - an investment that will pay off with big dividends if you CHOOSE to use what you learn. My home town of Baltimore has a graduation rate somewhere in the 30% range and this is totally unacceptable. It is no great secret that a good education will change your circumstances for he better, and I am committed to make a difference to help others embrace this philosophy so they can make a difference in the lives of others, too.
