About   (request update)
I love people and enjoy the cultural differences that make friends understand that the essence of live in portrayed in valuing each others differences for what they are, and respect those perspectives other people have.

I like to watch kids when they play together, and time and time again it surprises me how parents do set the standards for their kids as who they should have as friends, as early in their lives as possible.

Teenage pregnancies highly interest me, as I have been a teenage mom as well, but I tried to make the right decisions and have come a long way: my kids are doing excellent and I am proud of being their mother; they make me cherish every single moment I had the privilege of being their mom. I am the proud mother of Marian (27 and mother of my grand-baby Shelby, almost 2 years old), Yldiz (25 and finishing her law degree this year), Achmed (19 and a Junior in college: accounting), and my baby Antoine (16 and a Junior in High-school who believes he will be the next most talented soccer player in the USA).

Furthermore, I do believe that friends are the family I choose, as my biological family does come along within the package of family that is DNA related. I highly value good friends and have only a few (6 men and women), even thou I like to be of help to anyone I deal with on a regular base (work, church, volunteering setting, etc) or those who cross my path in life...
My Interview Question
What do you value most in live?
Current Whereabouts:
Candidate EdD Education in Organizational Leadership! September 2014!
Life & Professional Aspirations:
I started working at the age of 15 in the district I was living at the time in Suriname, South America. I have changed a few job since than, but started working for the Surinamese government as a data collector at the Central Bureau of Statistics. In the mean time I became involved as volunteer in an organization that deals with people with HIV/ Aids and women who have been victims of trafficking.

I decided to join the staff of that company full time in 1998 an became a full time employee. Being able to serve the community and make people in all disciplines aware of the fact that HIV/ Aids is not a "far-from-my-bed-show" anymore, has made me humble and thankful for the years I spend at this organization. In 2005 I immigrated to the US after being married 8 years to my husband (I had a hard time giving up my career and starting from scratch). In that same year I became a home health aide and had to learn a different direction of live... For a long time I was not happy at all and had to see my youngest son ending up in a mental hospital for kids, before I woke up and decided to make THE BEST of the situation I was in. Friends can be really destroying when you totally trust them with your whole heart, and that is something I learned the hard way here. However, I am able to still have extremely good friends in my life, which makes the loss of this person as a highly valued friendship less painful. I still suffer the results of this friendship in my credit score thou. Anyway, thanks to this lost friendship I was able to sign up in college and in June this year I completed my bachelors degree in business management. SO, she has been part of my live for a reason... I am looking forward to complete my masters in HRM in a few months and do work on it to have a job that gives me a better horizon and perspective in live. In a few years I want to launch my own lingerie line for heavy weight people as I know how it feels to get frustrated over underwear that annoys you, while you paid so much for it.

My BlackInAmerica.com Profile
Why Are You Concerned About Black America:
1. We black people still do consider themselves as not as fortunate as the white. Luckily, there are so many women, black women, who do set the rhythm for a new song: we want to prosper, we want our kids to graduate on the high honor role, we want the best for our families. Black man still think that they need to compete with us, instead of making the fist and compete with us to beat the burden of slavery we drag with us. I believe that you need to learn, learn, learn more, and then work hard to reach your goals. I am 45 now and one of my goals is to start my own business. I explore the options and look what there is out there for my line of business; I look what is out there for help that is provided to women who want to start their own business; I search for options of other business that can be an example to me and my dreams, and in the mean time I keep writing everything that comes to mind. For now I lack direction, at least some right direction, and I want to get there! I want my kids, my sister, my brother, to look back at my life and be proud that I was part of theirs... 2. We need to stop being negative about each other, about our possibilities and about the races that do not resemble us. Everyone is here for a reason: the choice is yours!
