Q&A With Lesley Knight

Where does Jesus stand in your life?
"In the driver's seat."

Interviewed by christina mitchell 10/24/08

What do you prefer,To Serve or be Served
"To serve! I get served a blessing each and every time I serve someone else. To serve is actually more blessed than to be served, because it opens up the windows of heaven to pour out a blessing so big I can't contain it, and that serves me well."

Interviewed by Isaiah Washington 10/19/08

What are your favorite movies?
""Sudie and Simson", "Pay it Forward", "What Dreams May Come", "The Abyss (Director's Cut)", and "Stand and Deliver". Just to name a few..."

Interviewed by Joseph Fenner 10/14/08

What book have you read that changed your life?
"My BIBLE! His word brings His presence, what more can I do to change my life than that?"

Interviewed by Pam Perry 10/12/08

Do you believe in luck or do you believe in blessings?
"Luck is a force that brings good fortune or adversity. Blessings are things conducive to happiness or welfare. So, of course, I believe in blessings! God is no respecter of persons, tis true, but He will do for some, what He will not do for others. FAVOR ain't fair. Bless you!"

Interviewed by Vanessa Humphries 10/09/08

What past African American achievement(s) motivate you to strive for greatness?
"MLK Jr. He was a true man of God, and I admire him fo his commitment to purpose. I agree with his purpose of all races coming together, to become stronger, to become more than we are alone. I like your question. It makes you think in a specific direction. Thank you for the interview, too. God bless you in all your pursuits. Keep striving for greatness, but keep in close mind the Greatest One, God in Christ. "

Interviewed by Tristan Gross 09/21/08

What is the best thing you have ever done in your life?
"LIVE! and My babies. "

Interviewed by Kye Brown 09/21/08

what is god's will
"Hey JT. This is a good question. My Daddy says His will is for us to be fruitful. No, I don't mean "have kids", I mean "be abundantly productive". He says Multiply, ie. be "fruitfull" in Many Ways. He says Replenish the Earth, ie. use only what you require, and then put it back in the same, or better condition than when you recieved it. He says Subdue the Earth, ie. reduce the intensity and degree of it,a nd bring it under control by an exertion of your will. Case in point, Speak the things that are not as though they are. Walk in faith not by sight. He says Have Dominion, ie. supreme authority and absolute ownership! And above all He says Love, ie. includes and is not limited to...the unlovable, undeserving. The enemy as yourself. Thanks for the interview opp. Be blessed and highly favored always."

Interviewed by Jesse L Turner 09/14/08

What brought you to this website and what made you join?
"My Mama (MR Just Sayin') brought me here. All of you made me stay. You are CUTE! I see Daddy in you! (Daddy BTW is God) You are truly a King! Keep reaching out to the youth, they need you. GB"

Interviewed by Ed King 09/13/08

What one thing would you like to change in the world?
"People who judge the books by their cover. The books that I am refering to are us. Each of us has a unique story called life and the cover (how we look) doesn't begin to tell that story. It is once you open that front page and get to know the real person that you get a glimpse of a really good story. A book that takes a lifetime to read. It is called friendship. Thank you for your question! "

About   (request update)
At age 1, mom divorced dad because he was a "dead beat". He refused to work a job for less than $5/hr in 1973, in construction which is hard enough weather permitting. By 2, mom divorced dad #2 because he beat her, and me. By 3, mom married dad #3. He was a good dad and roll model. An argument about money, or the mismanagement thereof, sent him to an early grave and he died when I was 12. At 5, I was molested by the neighbor's boy. I forgave him once I found out his mother was wicked. When she didn't have a man in her life, her son took his place. He was merely trying to show general affection, like we all do, he just didn't know any other way. At 7, I learned to drive a truck! and feel like I had a purpose in this life. At 13, I was given a choice, Mom or Grandma, not both. I chose Mom, to my dismay. Grandma is where my faith was nourished and my belief in God founded. At 14, I was raped by a skinhead and beaten for speaking to a black girl at my school. Oh, and at 9 I was beaten by a black girl with an umbrella, who believed a false rumor of me mollesting a mutual friend's sister. At 15, I let home and never went back. At 16, I was stupid! At 17, met and married my husband of 17 years, straight out of the penetentiary. Two months before my 18th birthday, I gave birth to my first child, my only daughter. She died of SIDS the week before her first Christmas. By New Years I was pregnant again. At 25, I stopped having children because the burden of them falling asleep was too much to bear. At 26, I woke up. At 27, I took inventory and did research. At 28, I took action. At 30, I adopted Mama MR, and grew into a real woman. At 32, I gave my husband a wake up call. At 33, I left everything behind and moved to Mississippi to help rebuild and restore after Katrina. The best thing I've ever done. All 5 of us lived in the van for 8 days. Then we found God's Katrina Kitchen, and lived comfortably together in a 9x10 storage building, complete with portable toilets, outdoor showers, and a tent kitchen 100 ft from my door. We all worked 18 hour days, feeding all sorts of people! and rebuilding their homes and lives. Today I am 34, and still stepping. In less than 60 days I will be 35, and I look forward to a bright future in the knowledge that, even when everyone else, and everything else are gone, My Daddy is still with me. He's always been their. I want to hear Him say, Well done, good and faithful servant.

I hear you however my point was that black folks follow others way of life and many times those choices end up hurting and confusing us .An example is that on every corner in my community there is a church yet we suffer from every social ill, at twice the rate of every other group. Being new is cool, But not being a new fool. another example, when John kennedy ran for president the irish catholics didnt divide over his youth, inexperience etc. They just pulled together to see one of their own elected. by the way my sister's name is Leslie, take care
