About   (request update)
I am an award-winning author, with numerous pieces published, as well as my first book, an autobiography titled, "Does God Really Hear Me When I Cry? A Life Transformed" which was published in Oct. 2007. I am a board member of The Called & Ready Writers (CRW), a Christian writing guild in Detroit, Michigan founded by Min. Mary Edwards. Our CRW President is Mrs. Wanda J. Burnside.

I'm currently an evangelist and active in the ministry at my home church where I have been a member for the past three years. I am also a certified hospice chaplain.

I hold a BSW as well as an MSW from Eastern Michigan University. I have worked in the social work field for the past ten years and have worked with various poulations such as women dealing with domestic violence, hospice patients, those affected by HIV/AIDS, mental illness and the elderly.

I am the proud mother of one adult son and an adult daughter and I have a five-year-old miniature poodle (Smokey) and a one-year-old cat (Zoey) who keep me busy once I get home.
My Interview Question
What inspires you?
Current Whereabouts:
In my secular life, I currently work with the mentally ill, yet I have worked in with a variety of populations and feel most strongly joined to seniors and women who are dealing with domestic violence and other areas of brokenness. My ministry also involves working with women who are experiencing issues of brokenness (domestic violence, mental illness, etc.)
Life & Professional Aspirations:
It is my goal to enlarge the ministry that God has given me and to continue and strengthen as an minister, writer and public/motivational speaker. It is my long-term goal (within the next 5 years)to shift careers and concentrate on my writing and public speaking on a more full-time basis.

Education   (request update)
Eastern Michigan Univ class of 2005
Undergrad Major: Social Work
Claim To Fame:
God has called me into the minstry and into a life that I never imagined possible just 10 short years ago due to my past. I'm saved, sanctified and baptized with the precious Holy Ghost and, due, in part to my past, the Lord Jesus Christ has given me a love for people, compassion and mercy that is often lacking in our world today.
Most Memorable Moment:
I walked across the stage to receive my BSW in 1998 . As I walked acros that stage, I had a real sense that I was actually walking away from all the old hurts, disappointments, etc. into a glorious future... My senses were correct!
High School: Muskegon Catholic Central in Muskegon, MI class of 1979

Activities & Accomplishments:
Worked as a teacher in Special Ed. my senior year of high school.
Experience
I currently work with Community Network Services as Case Manager/Supports Coordinator
I have 10 years of experience working in the Healthcare, Other industry.
My BlackInAmerica.com Profile
Why Are You Concerned About Black America:
I am concerned about Black America because (until this election), we seemed to have lost the dream and instead of further our fight for Civil rights and equality we have spent x amount of years killing each other. We lost our political focus and stayed in bed saying, "What difference does it make if I vote.." and last but not least, I get the sense that more of our children headed for the nation's prisons rather than the nation's colleges.

May GOD bless you in all your endeavors. It's wonderful to connect with those who prefer to "walk in the light" as opposed to the darkness. Much Love, Gail Cooper
