I read this article from the Haaretz, a jewish news paper. The article was titled: ANALYSIS / Obama will be most threatened U.S. leader in history.
It read in part: "One does not have to be a security expert to realize that Barack Obama's presidency constitutes an unprecedented challenge to the Secret Service, which is responsible for the safety of top government officials. In addition to the long history of attempts on U.S. presidents' lives, Obama's skin color obviously plays a role. In fact, Obama was the first presidential candidate in history, from either party, to receive Secret Service protection a year and a half ahead of the elections.
Potential threats to the life of American presidents have come from a wide spectrum of circles: Islamic terrorists, fundamentalists, anarchists, and far-leftists; and now, due to Obama's skin color, from the American reactionary far-right as well."
I was hesitate about posting this article. I have no desire to feed into, the very real, fear that many Blacks feel.
This fear comes out of a long history of being under the rule of a sadistic people. People who Lynched, raped, took children from their parents and sold them like cattle. People who burned down Black towns out of envy. A people who have lied on and assassinated every Black leader that struggled to bring freedom, justice and equality to all people, particularly Black people.
So, yes, the fear is there, and it's real, but the fear is different this time. President Elect Barack Obama is not a Black leader like Medgar Evers, Martin Luther King Jr., Malcom X or Marcus Garvey. He is more than a Black leader, he is an idea whose time has come. He represents hope, hope for change to a world gone mad.
The soul of white America is on the line with how they treat this Black man. In fact, the future of white America hangs in the balance - HOW WHITE (and Black)AMERICA HANDLES PRESIDENT ELECT BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA WILL DETERMINE THE OUTCOME OF THEIR FUTURE.
