Maybe you should check your information. Governor Palin was divisive in that she campaigned for herself more than the party. You need to check out the blog, 'The Republican Party and Sarah Palin, the Face of Racism' the is a site attached to it that you should check out. she is as crooked as they come AND she is mean, vindictive and abuses her power in the wilderness of Alaska.

Look, 'Caribou Barbie' needed to go back to Alaska and face the music for Troopergate, the rigging of the bidding process for the pipeline to nowhere, her under the table deals with the convicted Senator Stevens, and lets not forget that vindictive streak of using her position by having people fired from their jobs because they didn't agree with her, questioned what she did and or spoke out against her. Her secretary of agriculture got the job because 'she liked cows'. Oh, by the way, according to Palin, she considers the native Eskimos 'Arctic Arabs".
There probably are racist Democrats, but they elected an African-American as President. 'Nuff said.
Now if you are speaking about women politicians, what about Senator Clinton? She, by far, did more for women and politics than Palin did. If anything, Palin set women back.

I just finished reading all the comments above. My only comment to all is "let it go". Now is the perfect time for us to let go of the past -- all of the past -- and move forward. Yes, we still have a long way to go. There is still racism and has been since bible days. Yes there is still s*xism. But we need to start from where we are and move on. If I'm not mistaken, this website was started so that African Americans can come together and move forward. Are we really doing that if we focus on the past?

For your information, the Republicans did not free the slaves. Lincoln was a Republican and signed the Emancipation Proclamation, but it was about ending the war, not about freeing the slaves. Made up of Whigs, Anti-Slavery Democrats, Free-Soilers, Know-Nothings and Abolitionists, they sought to prevent the extension or increase of slavery, not abolish or disturb it. These so-called Christians fought the Civil Rights Acts of 1875, 1957, 1964 and 1965.
With respect to abortion, I don't believe that a man has the right to dictate to a woman what she can or cannot do with her body. What about cases of rape and incest? Shouldn't abortion be allowed in those cases? regarding gay rights, for the most part, I believe that it is genetic in nature. African-Americans have been, and still are, persecuted. It is wrong for us to persecute another group for any reason. I believe in God, but Christ's teachings were about choice. he didn't try to make people convert to his beliefs. How can we then turn around and say that you are wrong if you don't believe as I do? It is these types of blanket statements that I feel are fundamentally wrong.
The finger pointing with regard to the loss of the election began within the Republican party itself, not the Democrats. Palin's problems began before she was chosen to be the running mate. It should be noted that her party tried to shift the issue out of the spotlight by claiming that the Democrats were trying to harm her. It was her own constituents that wanted answers about her abuse of power. Palin is her own worst enemy, she used the terms 'sambo' and 'arctic arabs', she caused Troopergate, took money from the convicted Senator Thomas, rigged the bidding process on the pipeline to nowhere, she took money from the oil companies, she ran up the 22 million dollar debt in a town with zero debt, she remodeled her office repeatedly instead of building a sewage treatment plant or paving roads. I agree that she is lacking academically and that she is intelligent, just like any other crook. Her campaigns capitalized on the current emotional issue of the time. For the record, IQ is the potential for academic success while academics applies to the subjects taught in school.
I am for God, Family and Country. I am also a veteran. President-elect Obama is not against any of the rights the country was founded on, that is one of the many distortions of the facts perpetrated by the Republicans.
Your lack of concern for your fellow man is both depressing and shameful. Our history is a reflection of the same injustices facing the Native-Americans. Speaking as a female, I am not proud of this being in the history books about both of America's female first VPs. Only speaking for myself...

I do not just go on what is in the latest main stream news frenzy at that moment. for example, long before all of this about Plain's being scape goated by the Republicans or anyone else; the citizens of Alaska had asked their governor to remember that she was the governor of their state therefore the state itself asked that she return to answer some questions they had for her related to what she had said to get elected in the first place.

I refer to the citizens who voted for her to become governor want answers to some of her cover- ups that has nothing to do with the VP position.

My point about the future of Palin is does the Republicans want her on their ticket. Or a lot lkie the position that Senator Leiberman finds himself in at the moment.
