Funerals and farewells (184 hits)

i just attended a funeral of a parent of friends of mine that i've known since i was 8 years old, and today we're in our mid-40's. i know we all have our biological parents, but we also have others who are very close to being our parents.
if anyone has gone through this experience, let me know your ways of getting through this time. i'll be glad to take any advice. who knows i may can spread this advice to the immediate family.

Know that the loss of a parent, sibling or any other loved one can't be truly 'gotten over'. My father died a few years ago and my younger brother died in 1984. There are good days, remembering the laughter and joy shared with them, and bad, not being there to share in the joys of life's events. I remember that, even though they are not here physically, they never truly are gone, as long as they remain in our hearts and minds that they will always be there, always watching us from above and knowing that we will be together again one day. When we are truly sad, we can feel them comforting us and whispering in our ears their love for us and knowing that they will be there welcoming us home one day.
