Hey family, what's good? I have been AWOL for approximately 27 days as I battled with my computer. It all began when on this site I went to reply to a comment as an e-mail. Because the Connect Platform were obviously stopping us from cross blogging, if you are not a member of the site that the blogger is on..i.e. I am on BWC..but someone on BIA comments on a blog- then a feature came up that said."he/she is not a member of Black Women Connect" , if you tried to contact the profile , to respond by e-mail by clicking on their picture. When I hit the back browser it "froze." It also happened on another computer in the house. But it caused no havoc with that computer.
Yes the site is unstable at times, as they work on it. That lead me into the "I can fix it mode." 27 days later, I have been in all diagnostic "software and hardware" environments of Microsoft.
I have been in exe. dll. files areas that we "non phi non" are not supposed to be in..but I didn't care, not to be daunted..I pressed on, couldn't dowload moving video, for sure no blogging, media pics took forever to download, it was a virtual nightmare.
..And here I am, triumphant. A few times, everything worked..about 4 times!! then back to the same ol' same ol. I am NOT an IT person. I took Intro to Computer science in 1980 and when they started on that "binary numbers" stuff I dropped the course like it was hot!!
But this is what I want to share, common sense, as I told my 23-year-old son, CEO of his own IT company-- "old fashioned" will ALWAYS work. He didn't want to help me because he said my computer was "old" and to throw it away..{it's a Win dows NT 2005} Meanwhile he started with a $6,000.00 dollar computer courtesy of his grandma through my good graces..I refused to give up .
The worst case scenario would be a total crash..and I'd have to buy a new computer anyway..the best case, I 'd come out mighty smug about my ability to trouble shoot my own computer..Life lesson learned..I am intelligent, I am determined, I am capable. In the end only we are responsible for our failures and our successes!
P.S. Big props to my girl Ajuba, for turning me on to msconfig!! in the pix at the Tina Turner concert! She is one of my angels!!
