Pastor Rick Warren Obama's Choice for delivering the Inaugurational Prayer. (1341 hits)

An opportunity for us to get to know the person behind the Pastor. He heads the fourth largest Church in the United States.

Texans for Obama, sent me this video. He covers his views very well. He talks about the influence of the media, his keeping of the historical definition of "marriage." And defines clearly, his views on Gay marriage.

Actually his views are very well balanced. Very informative. For instance he invited Obama to speak at his church--but his asking Obama to take an AIDS test-? supposedly because Obama supporst AIDS research. Obama complied, publicly. But you cannot help but wonder if-there was a concern of some sort? McCain refused to release his medical record. Just thinking.

Starting in January 2009- the new movement "Purpose Driven Connection" will probably rise to the level of "The 700 Club" in its heyday. PurposeDriven.com will also be up in January.

Rev. Jeremiah Wright--lost his opportunity to have held this position. He was about divisiveness, this Pastor is about agreeing to disagree. Very enlightening.

Like all of Obama's choices well thought out.

I know what you mean, I saw him and his story on dateline, and understand why he was Obama's choice.
Most people can't see the forest for the trees, due to the blinders they constantly wear.
To close the door to understanding, is to limit your progress for growth.

Sure he was. All people of color did NOT support Jeremiah and his lack of loyalty to his "friend" of 20 years. In going against the grain, as I am WELL aware that a lot of Black folk did defend Jeremiah, by the following statements, "well he is right in what he is saying" and from my illustrious butt-kicking sister Reda ST. Cyr in Nevada--well Marta that ' how we Black folks are--he needed to do that--NO HE DID NOT --- Obama's "friend" AND Pastor was running for the highest office in the Nation and the world what part of highest, Nation or World are we not understanding here? To blindside you "friend" is a sign of stupidity, lack of loyalty, self- centeredness, jealosy and delusional behavior.

I would dare say that Jeremiah Wright has some deep seated emotional issues by his improper,behavior, refusal to shut up-after he put his foot in his mouth --forcing Obama to distance himself to go forward politically. Chicago style politics? no adherance to protocol? what about politcal savvy? What about help your brother,not throw a wrench in his game--so he could steal the spotlight? Why couldn't he swallow his pride for the good of all of us?

Tha's just one part, now let's talk about Sunday Church-I am well oriented to the history of the church in the Civil Rights movement--where freedom fighters gathered to strategize--let's fast forward" God-damn America"? wait a minute, let's say that again "God damn" America--what happened here, does not the Word make it clear, that The Devil is the Father of Contention? oh ho ho --you got a set of rules for Brother Jeremiah and one for the rest of the believers. I have got to laugh !!LOL

If you looked and heard the video--you would have noted that Rev. Warren is talking about the destructive power of the Media. As a former investigative reporter working for Publisher/Editor Andy Cooper (R.I.P)of the Brooklyn, New York Sun, the first Black Daily Newspaper in the late 80's and early 90's, I well remember what we were taught as cub reporters. "Seek the unhappy ones." so I would venture to say we are all on the same page on the issue of media influencing the minds of Americans, from what they eat to how they think about domestic,and international issues.

We can both also agree on Obama's egalitarian manner,and political savvy by asking Rev.Lowery to do the Benediction Breakfast, but to push a thorn in your side, it is not as powerful as the Inauguration Prayer that the whole wide world will see--Every Black person in Chicago backs Jeremiah..good for you--you just tell him for me, if I ever see him :

I want to let him know up close and personal what a egotistical , backstabbing, confused light skinned Negro he has become, he is not a measure of a Black man, but an old dog on his last years watching fame slip away,and if he was about righteousness--he would have done everything in his power to - ameliorate the situation not inflame it.

I will Tell you right now, YOU do not want me to talk about Jeremiah Wright. A man nowhere near the shadow of Martin, Stokely, or Huey. A broken down loser --Come on--Ooo wee! He has "No Place to be Somebody." Put out good milk, then kicked the pail. But God is merciful separated the wheat from the chaff-how about that? eh?

Dont' try to hide the obvious--his cursing in church--that is not strategizing--Even the Rev.Al Sharpton would not use God's name in vain-the only national voice attacking police brutality in our cities--for that he has earned a measure of my respect- -I come from the era of Jeremiah Wright--New York was a teeming jumgle of Civil rights activity--right now he is lower in my eyes than Alan Keyes--you better not get me started--don't get me to sending stuff out--Chill--Peace out...oh and I lived in Nevada,so yes I used ot ski in Utah..by way of Queens, New York, by way of Havana, Cuba.

And we are in total agreement regarding the media. Your last line about" show you a Pastor that is not a sinner from time to time ..etc" is a moot issue. Why? Because Pastors are human and humans commit sins. Whether "governable" by choice or "ungovernable" by error.

To err is human, to forgive Divine. Barack has forgiven Jeremiah. Clowning is not a sin, but cursing or using God's name in vain is --and in a House of Worship? It is called blasphemy. Let's get the parameters in place here.

And as an aside, to a "Minister" on this site who sends these constant e-mails and posts about living right--I asked the question, do you do what you preach? I am right there with you, on that , but if my preacher is little too "common" he cannot be my Pastor, Priest, Reverend or Spiritual advisor, for in that case I will go straight to the
source-- the Most High. I personally? will not follow a fallen angel.

Too many Christian folk have a problem with the concept of forgiveness ..and a failure to actually "incorporate" into the body --the teachings of the Word.

You know-- Faith without works! and Brother Maxwell my response is not to you personally, as I know you are well grounded enough to recognize that., but of all the people other than Dr. Al-Zawahiri who made those comments mimicking Malcolm X, regarding our President -Elect Obama..no one irritates me more than Rev. Jeremiah Wright, so if your response was limited to the Media and their unrelenting "trouble making ways" you and I would have no disagreement. Conversely mention those two--to me-- and all my Cubana Revolutionary passions catch fire!! Peace.

What total nonsense comparing this intolerable man Warren to Wright. Wright has been an advocate of black struggle for almost 40 years. We seem to forget that we relied heavily upon the types like Wright whom would dare speak up when Blacks were being lynched, killed, maimed and done unjustly outright. Obama did nothing more than compare Wright's advocacy to what the intolerable right wing racist politics of this country has called it, "Reverse Racism". Wright was 100% right in his addressing the rogues within the U.S government who have conspired to destroy Black America. Obama making president doesn't mean anything to the 1.1 million blacks locked up and all the Blacks whom suffer in America. Obama's gain is political not social and ducking behind politics to demean a man whom was his pastor and mentor for 20 years is cowardly and immoral. This is the same thing as Luke Skywalker turning on Obi Konobi or Yoda. How little do we understand the social implications to many of young people whom have teachers and mentors that are seeing that it's okay since Obama did it to turn on your teacher if you can make gain. Sad, very sad indeed and disgusting.

How can you justify G. D. America ,Brother ? Do you seriously think that was appropriate coming from anyone, let alone someone that is suppose to be walking in the Spirit and is of the "CLOTH" ? Last time I checked, to wrongs don't make a right either !

And so what about being an advocate, he's not the first nor will he be the last !
Get past it Brother ! Yesterday is gone forever, into oblivion, what matters is whats happening right now, and what are YOU doing about it?
This is a time to forgive, not necessarily to forget, but forgive and move on..... PERIOD ! Let Go and let GOD ! Thats Who has vengence and is always in control !
This way of thinking is absurd ! We all know what's been going on in America, whats new ? Change is coming regardless.
What was Obama suppose to do ?
He made the right choice and whatever choices he makes now, is his as well !

To John Washington--do me a favor? DO NOT READ MY BLOGS,DO NOT COMMENT --it's my opinion, my blog and my hand on this computer, I control this form of censorship--I don't need nor want a "hit" ..I will not allow anyone to bash the President -Elect on my time or my space. Just because he is "Black" people think the can talk any way about him--but I don't recall these diatribes in writing from Black folks against Bush or any white or the media. I will let the one above stay, because the next response is about the foolishness and nonsensical reference to a movie character.
