The Freedom Principles
"One way some Christians have chosen to deal with money is to simply categorize it as evil and thus something not to be concerned about.
This belief lends itself to the philosphy that " to be poor is to be godly." People living by this credo don't have to be wise spenders of their money, since success ( amassing money) would be a sin anyway.
One man who was obvioulsy a follower of this philosphy told the author that if he was offered two jobs with the same responsibilities, all things being equal, he would take the lower-paying job because in his words, "It would keep him humble."
This kind of thinking is without scriptural foundation.
It baffles me how we can read scripture and the stories of the people who were wealthy and used by God and still somehow adopt this "poverty theology."
Some of the great biblical characters who were described as wealthy include Abraham, David, Solomon, and Job.
