Lets' begin with Black men. The ones who have not escaped the unrelenting psychotic genetically manipulated (by the environment) self hatred. An environement that for 400-- years said you are black get back, you are ugly, you have big lips, and flat noses, and huge organs! let me hang you from a tree while you whimper--let my wife-sister,mother (Ms.Ann) just say the word and I will "cut your balls off" Jesse Jackson style.
Hating on President Obama, hanging on his every word to look for the negative--siding with the white man, the massah, the oppressor..see there, Mr. White man I am just like you, why I can out insult you on Mr. Obama, because I know he is just like me, he thinks he's better..but oohhh nooo massah he's a negro, shucks , he ain't no better!!
Delusional? you bet. Should we pray for the haters? you bet. Now lets' move on to the "edjamacated" negroes--you know the type that read any "Black History" and only spout the theories they agree with, not bothering to find additional data that would refute or support their "data." They are the ones that get caught up on whether Obama is Black or not, arguing both sides of the issue to support their personal hangups as it suits them.
Then there is the light skinned wavy haired brother versus the dark skinned one with kinks--yeah-let's talk about it , Essence has done articles on the tension between who's in and who is out "fashionably" speaking. Sisters instictively say, I love a dark skinned brother, because the sisters have love for their own--but imagine a sister actually saying " well I like light skinned cute brothers with good hair" INSTANT lynching!! now what does that say about perceptions? after all any white man can say,. I like redheads-brunettes-blondes--short hair --long hair--but a black man conversely has to hide (his admiration for a sister with long beautiful hair) because the issue is crazy sensitive--feelings hurt on all sides--think about it--why ? why is this still going on? why?
Now men traditionally are not as petty as women can be. But some are having a heck of of time getting past Obama's good looks-- I can assure you that if he looked like Alan Keyes, all mouths would be silent and only in private would we hear "he sho is ooglie". So ,the 400 years of disapproval from the very people who enslaved our ancestors, is still alive and well in far too, too many of us isn't it? Is it because there is no other frame of reference to stand on a platform and respect Mr. Obama for his brilliance, preparation, enviable honesty (extremely dangerous for a politician) confidence, and bravado? what IS it??
White men do not attack their own in this fashion. A dark haired white man is not at issue with a young blonde Adonis, but at issue with his beliefs, persona, character. This is not the measure being applied to Mr. Obama. No one has ever seen a person other than white head the government of this powerful nation, that is in line with European countries. A whole paradigm shift is needed. A sit down and reflect on the multitude of facets that this leadership signals type of meditation. He is not the head of Wall Street, IBM, an Admiral, General or the head of some fabulously wealthy family. He has reached a uniquely highly visible position--unlike anything any one in the modern world has ever witnessed. You want to give Rev. Jeremiah Wright a break, Rev. Al Sharpton a break, Rev. Jesse Jackson a break--but you just can't find it anywhere to extend largesse to this man? You think about it. I have. And so have millions who have a spiritual foundation of some sort. The Devils and imps are busy--is it time to pray? yes, every day-
Asians, which includes Native peoples and Indians are so proud of this man--many are eschewing the white supremacy beliefs taught in the new world--but they are highly spiritual people--who know their own power and they embrace Obama..BIG TIME--
Hispanics--poisoned by the Spaniards and their "Christian Superiority." Carefully taught that the Hispanic natives (indigenous people) were better than the African slaves imported--and once again as in my second paragraph--they play up to the hegemonic (those who deem themselves superior) society and ascribe themselves names to "differentiate" themselves from their ancestral homeland AFRICA.
Domincanos, Cubanos, in particular--the fact is that in 1507 there were maybe 1,300 Spaniards in the Hispaniola. The fact is that between 300,000 and 400 thousand slaves were imported------ do the math----which is why we say--if you are not from the Congo you are from the land (native)--it is said to put other Hispanics in place as a reminder of their most probable roots--Dominicans who are working diligently to make a strong presence here in the U.S. are more and more "differentiating" themselves from Black Americans. In whisperings and talk during the election they boldly stated "un negro nunca sera presidente" a Black will never become President--what fools I used to think, when I heard it on WADO spanish radio, at my beauty salon, at the restaurant--they don't know what I know. They are in shock--with egg all over their faces--trying to cope with the same mentality as those sho' nuff negroes still imprisoned in their thoughts of inferiority.
Cubans..ah my people--probably no one gets on their case as much as I do--on a personal level starting with my own "white"Cuban family..white my foot I say. Hung up on their "Spaniard " ancestry called "Gallegos." My neighbor, A " Mariel" Cuban, (those were the emigres of 1980) who was a nobody in Cuba, complaining about those people on welfare and touting his Republican leanings.
These Hispanics know darn well if anything that Mr.Obama could certainly fit in with the AVERAGE Hispanic family as a member--so what is it?? again, it's the swarthy skin color that for ever someone has told someone else for centuries that white is right. That Blacks are not achievers, that they cannot LEAD, that they dont' UNDERSTAND/Comprehend, simple operative laws, therefore how could they understand complex world finance..specially since they created the laws!! but brains are all the some color, last time I checked.
Our prejudices and insecurities abound from comments heard while we are young and forming the ego. From lies we are told. Lies to protect us and sometimes lies to empower us. The fact is we don't live in a vacumn. We live with other human beings within societal laws, that we have created or allowed to be created. Change begins from the bottom up, and as the Buddhist teachings say--Change yourself to change your environmnet.
Original Peoples LOVE yourselves, and LOVE thy brother as yourself--It's fine to criticize the President when he makes a call , that clearly is out of tune with what is best for society in this country, and the way this country interacts with the world. Give yourself permission to respect him and stand up to white people; lead and teach in your little corner of the world--don't disrespect him on general principles just because and this is the horrible part "because he is black like us."
As far as white men..well they are on life support--turning blue from the deconstruction of their little world of power. Match Game.
Insofar as what our coloring, features, hair, lips are there is beauty in ALL humans, all living things, and every single child of God . Embrace your uniqueness without qualifying or choose your beauty and be happy with the choice you make. WE all will get old, wrinkled and organs will stop working--so celebrate what the Creator has given you for a reason. Remember that ultimately the power of the Spirit, your soul is more lasting than any superficial virtue.
