Ten years ago Marianne Williamson--tagged as a "new age" persona who has appeared on Oprah's show predicted that in 2008--there would a shift in American politics from greed and selfishness to a more oneness. She believes in a powerful transformation of American society and a reemergence of citizens involvement. We are witnessing this in vivo with this Adminsitration.
Five of his Cabinets picks have all been involved in greed. Failure to disclose their earnings as is required in their chosen professions. Simply known as "tax evasion."
From a Spiritual perspective The Universe-God is always moving people across the chessboard of humanity--it is believed by faith that he will remove those who are not in alignment with his plan, or allow them to self-destruct.
The issues at hand are not new--read what Abraham Lincoln said March 30, 1863 when he proclaimed a national day of fasting: "We have been preserved,these many years, in peace and prosperity.We have grown in numbers, wealth and power, as no other nation has ever grown. But we have forgotten God.
We have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace, and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us and we have vainly imagined in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superiour wisdom and virtue of our own.
Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, to proud to pray to the God that made us!
It behooves us, then, to humble ourselves before the offended Power, to confess our national sins, and pray for clemency and forgiveness." ( Said over 140 years ago.)
It is no accident -(in Buddhism they teach- that there are no "accidents' In the universe. ) when President Obama in choosing this former President as the figure he wants to emulate is by design. We can assume that he has read ALL of Lincoln's works, speeches and thoughts on paper.
Williamson states that in a "truly democratic paradigm, there is no love of power for power's sake." Americans have been seduced by the perks of power, whether governmental or economic, but not adequately educated of the responsiblities that come with power, she further says.
Today's rich show little understanding of human values and less prediliction to show compassion, refusing to believe in a higher consciousness whose guidance can be followed.
" We can no longer expect--or wait for--either major political party to adequately address the causal level of America's pain--I couldn' t agree with her more--her book The Healing of America-is written with the same foresight but from a spiritual view--that my friend Daniel Bruno wrote on "Why Obama would get elected in 2008 "from a hightly technical statistical viewpoint they both got it right-- Shelby Steele got it all wrong--the "other" GOP right wing thinking.
One of my oldest friends "warned" me last year that Oprah was going "New Age" so based on my loyalty of over 30 years of friendship I accepted her concern--but I also know that we are responsible for our own lives--glad I read the book..now I can advise my friend that she needs to be more open minded and stop believing those internet
e-mails from well meaning friends! But always keep in mind when in doubt --Pray.
